Activities at Flowerdown Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Kate Harfield

Activities Coordinator

Hello My Name is Kate Harfield I have been at Flowerdown care Home for about a year now as the activity coordinator I really enjoy my role meeting the residents and families on a daily basis.

I have worked in all aspects of care from being a carer who supports people in their own homes to working with people who have learning disabilities.

I do have a busy family life with my husband, daughter and our dog Patch- we also have PAT dogs that come into our home which both I and the residents really enjoy.

I also enjoy taking people outside in our lovely garden as I feel that being in nature really helps to improved wellbeing as I also enjoy walking my dog every morning.

Life at Flowerdown Care Home

Residents at Barchester got busy planting sunflowers for our annual sunflower competition, to see who can grow the largest one.

,

Comic Relief

Residents dressed in red and other bright colours, as they and the staff used their little peddle bikes to cycle to Manchester to raise money for Comic Relief. They successfully reached their destination on Friday in time for the big show, raising £70 for the charity they all hold dear to their hearts.

Easter Celebrations

Residents at Flowerdown kicked off our Easter celebrations by spending a lovely crafty afternoon making Easter cards and some delicious tasting Easter nests.

Birthday Celebrations

Flowerdown got together to help our dear friend Joan celebrate her hundred and first birthday in style, with plenty of cards, balloons and cake, followed by a visit from her son and daughter in law.

Squirrel Appreciation Day

To mark Squirrel Appreciation Day and all the little visitors we get in the garden. The residents, along with our Gardner, Ian, got together to thread walnuts and make a display, which kept our little squirrel friends happy for days.

Farewell, Sharon!

Our manager here at Flowerdown, Sharon, decided to take early retirement, so we all got together to mark this sad occasion and celebrate all the good times we have shared, as well as to welcome our new Deputy Manager, Urmi, into her new role.
