Activities at Field House Care Home

The Activities Coordinators here at Field House are always keen to learn about residents' interests and hobbies, tailoring meaningful activities to the likes and dislikes of those we support. Our mission is to ignite the past, appeal to current interests and embrace new ones, improving quality of life whilst stimulating the mind and senses. Activities are carried out via small groups or individually, supported by local volunteers. We have access to a range of local community facilities and nearby places of interest, prompting community engagement, and hold special events at the home, where we are entertained by guest vocalists and performers, with 'The Quiz Master' being a fan favourite.

Caroline Davis

Activities Coordinator

Hi, I'm Caroline and I joined Field House in 2021 from another Barchester home. I have worked in care for the last 30 years and a big part of that has been with Barchester.

Here at Field House, I organise a variety of activities and social events within the home and in the community, such as gardening club arts and crafts, weekly exercise sessions along with live singers and musicians every month. We are also keen on regular outings to local landmarks, museums, cafes and shopping centres.

In my job, I'm able to develop excellent relationships with residents and their families providing the support they need. I am very passionate about my job role as it is very important to us as a team that every individual is able to live the life they wish and feel fulfilled in their everyday activities maintaining past hobbies and finding new ones.

Pimms O'Clock

Residents enjoying life ad fun in the sun...On Sunday mornings a Sherry or Baileys with our coffee is a must!

As the sun is shining, our residents are making the most of this wonderful late summer weather with sun hats on and shades up, what could be better to cool us all down than a sneaky little Pimms punch or two with ice creams for all.

Happy 100th Birthday 'Clifford'

This week the Field House family celebrated two resident birthdays. The first being 'Clifford' who became a centenarian turning 100! Clifford started his day with the staff opening lots of cards and presents... including one very special card from King Charles III himself.

Clifford enjoyed an outing with family and friends to a local restaurant and on his return we sang Happy Birthday to him and presented him with a gorgeous Victoria Sponge cake that he shared over tea with staff and his fellow residents.

24hrs 'Off Grid' For Dementia

Well they did it!

Paula Wiggan (General Manager),  Danielle Price (Deputy Manager) and Caroline Davis (Activities Coordinator) braved the end of summer/autumnal weather for a 24-hr 'off-grid' camp out raising awareness and money for the local Church Stretton Dementia Group during World Alzheimer's Month.

Paula said; "We're all a little achy and tired as sleeping on the floor of a tent is not good for girls in our time of life. We did chuckle at one another trying to get up to our feet this morning. We are so happy that we have raised some money for this wonderful local charity and we got the opportunity for some great team bonding at the same time!"

Thank you to everyone who sponsored us, it is greatly appreciated.

Learning New Games and Enjoying Good Company

New resident at Field House; Howard took great pleasure in introducing the Friday games group to a brain teaser game full of strategy and tactics. Betty loved it as she used to play a lot of Bridge. Mary and Peter L had fun getting to grips with the rules, Peter said "it's always good to learn new things and this game has really got my brain going!"

After lunch several residents tried a spot of pebble painting, Betty found it very relaxing before they all gathered together for a few rounds of Dominos before settling down for Tea.
