Activities at Field House Care Home

The Activities Coordinators here at Field House are always keen to learn about residents' interests and hobbies, tailoring meaningful activities to the likes and dislikes of those we support. Our mission is to ignite the past, appeal to current interests and embrace new ones, improving quality of life whilst stimulating the mind and senses. Activities are carried out via small groups or individually, supported by local volunteers. We have access to a range of local community facilities and nearby places of interest, prompting community engagement, and hold special events at the home, where we are entertained by guest vocalists and performers, with 'The Quiz Master' being a fan favourite.

Caroline Davis

Activities Coordinator

Hi, I'm Caroline and I joined Field House in 2021 from another Barchester home. I have worked in care for the last 30 years and a big part of that has been with Barchester.

Here at Field House, I organise a variety of activities and social events within the home and in the community, such as gardening club arts and crafts, weekly exercise sessions along with live singers and musicians every month. We are also keen on regular outings to local landmarks, museums, cafes and shopping centres.

In my job, I'm able to develop excellent relationships with residents and their families providing the support they need. I am very passionate about my job role as it is very important to us as a team that every individual is able to live the life they wish and feel fulfilled in their everyday activities maintaining past hobbies and finding new ones.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Our First Pudding Club

We hosted our first pudding club. The first puddings for this month were Clifford's Ginger sponge pudding and custard. Doris chose a Rhubarb tart as she remembered her mother made it for her and she loved the the sour of the fruit against the sweet custard. We had a lovely afternoon and we're looking forward to the next one.

Mad Hatter's Tea Party

Residents at field house celebrated Alice in wonderland day by having our own Mad Hatters Tea Party. We played games and enjoyed having visitors to share our day. Our chef prepared a fantastic Hatters High Tea, enjoyed by all! Such a fun and fantastic afternoon had by everyone!

Football Crazy

Continuing with Get Barchester Moving, we had a kick about in the garden before an England game. Peter and Jean chose to go in goals and wow did they make some great saves! It all got very competitive and the residents were shouting on the side lines! We all enjoyed a wedge of orange at half time then settled down for the real match.

Get Barchester Moving

What better way to continue with Get Barchester Moving than invite our Nursary group to join us for a sports day activity. The children had a great time showing the residents how fast they could run and the residents cheered them on. Even the residents joined in with the egg and spoon race and bean bag race all finished off with ice cream and singing!

D Day 80th

"Don't we know how to have a party!" That was a comment from one of our ladies. On our 80th D Day Celebration we laughed, we shed a tear, and also had lots of fun being entertained by singer Kerry Young with her war time classics. Elizabeth asked at the end if Kerry could sing Run Rabbit Run for one last time as it brought back so many memories.
