Activities at Field House Care Home

The Activities Coordinators here at Field House are always keen to learn about residents' interests and hobbies, tailoring meaningful activities to the likes and dislikes of those we support. Our mission is to ignite the past, appeal to current interests and embrace new ones, improving quality of life whilst stimulating the mind and senses. Activities are carried out via small groups or individually, supported by local volunteers. We have access to a range of local community facilities and nearby places of interest, prompting community engagement, and hold special events at the home, where we are entertained by guest vocalists and performers, with 'The Quiz Master' being a fan favourite.

Caroline Davis

Activities Coordinator

Hi, I'm Caroline and I joined Field House in 2021 from another Barchester home. I have worked in care for the last 30 years and a big part of that has been with Barchester.

Here at Field House, I organise a variety of activities and social events within the home and in the community, such as gardening club arts and crafts, weekly exercise sessions along with live singers and musicians every month. We are also keen on regular outings to local landmarks, museums, cafes and shopping centres.

In my job, I'm able to develop excellent relationships with residents and their families providing the support they need. I am very passionate about my job role as it is very important to us as a team that every individual is able to live the life they wish and feel fulfilled in their everyday activities maintaining past hobbies and finding new ones.

Life at Field House Care Home

Quality Time with 'Jean'

We would like to introduce you to our lovely friend Jean, she often visits us to chat with our residents. Jean volunteers her time to enrich our lives with topical conversation over coffee and the odd slice of cake!

This week Jean read us some poetry, what a lovely treat this was! Every home needs a wonderful lady like Jean.

Live Stream Church Service

Sometimes our residents just fancy a lay in or some quiet time. Our life enrichment team are always happy to find ways to ensure all our residents feel included, they can still all be a part of everything without having to all be in the same place at the same time.

Today we streamed the live Church service around the home on tablets and TVs so anyone who wished to view could feel part of the congregation.

Scalextric!

Last week at our Gentlemen's group, Tracy one of our seniors borrowed us a Scalextric for the men to set up and enjoy. Memories of their past all came rushing back and what a giggle we had trying to keep the cars on the track!

Madhatter's Tea Party

Today was a celebration of the day Lewis Carroll first told the story of Alice’s Adventures in wonderland in 1862. What an afternoon of fun and excitement. We were so lucky to be joined by local children, which always puts smiles on our Residents faces. We all enjoyed games with the children, hunt the Flamingo, Guess how many jelly beans in the cup, and pass the parcel. We also enjoyed cakes and sandwiches to finish.
