Activities at Emily Jackson House Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Our activities team continues to offer a wide range of activities to both mentally and physically stimulate our residents. Our activities include one to one shopping, group outings in our minibus, and regularly attending our local church and bowling club. We also enjoy the entertainment from the musicians who come and visit us as well as our PAT dog. We have a range of activities so residents with all abilities and talents can join in activities and social gatherings. We encourage families and volunteers to share the joy with us by taking part in our social events as well.

Hi, My name is Paula and I am the Lead Activities Coordinator here at Emily Jackson House. I absolutely love supporting our residents to take part in meaningful activities and delivering a person centred activity program.

Life at Emily Jackson House Care Home
Minibus outing to Hever Castle
Fantastic day out at Hever Castle. We took some gentlemen residents to see the vintage cars driven and preserved by the West Kent Veteran Car club.
The men admired Rolls Royces, a couple of Buicks, an Austin Healey amongst other beautifully looked after cars.
The day was made even better as we shared the experience with one of our sister homes Tandridge Heights Care Home - Barchester Healthcare. We enjoyed a picnic under the trees and chatted with our new friends.
White Rocks Farm
The residents had a lovely morning meeting some new furry friends and a new little person on the 19th July.
We were visited by baby Scarlett, Grayson, Biscoff and Wally from White Rocks Farm.
The positive interactions with an animal lead to benefits in the mind and body, such as reduced stress and an overall more balanced mental state and of course, happiness.
We look forward to seeing them all again and more cuddles.
Lunchtime Tunes
We are so lucky to have St Luke’s church on our doorstep where we can enjoy music on a Wednesday lunchtime. There is always a great variety of music and other acts on offer organised by John from The Listening Room Music Agency.
Today we were entertained by the very talented Jazz guitarist, Dave Warren.
Resident Barb said “Thank you very much. That was wonderful!”
We were also helped today by Soraya Matouk from Bennett Memorial Diocesan School who has joined this week got work experience.
Trip to the Riverhill Himaalyan gardens
We had a wonderful trip out at the beginning of July to the Riverhill Himalayan Gardens.
The sun was shining and we were able to admire the wildflowers, Rose garden and the walled Garden. There was such a fantastic array of colours.
The walled garden has sculptural grass terraces that lead down to a central water feature, with gently bubbling fountains & centre piece by renowned British sculptor, Julian Wild. We were happy to sit here for a while, enjoying the sun on our skin and the fresh air.
Riverhill is renowned for its beautiful and historic gardens, expansive views across the Weald of Kent.
Flower Arranging
Such a simple activity but it gave such pleasure and a sense of achievement.
A group of ladies gathered to arrange flowers in the vases for the dining room tables. We sat and surveyed our work, ate home-made cake, sipped tea and marvelled at the beauty of flowers, noting all the different colours and shapes.
Beverley, Joan's daughter joined us and remembered a flowerbed at her Mother’s home bursting with Roses and Alstromerias. They enjoyed this shared memory together.
Sevenoaks Festival
Yesterday we hosted ‘June B’ (The Listening Room Music Agency ) singing as part of the Sevenoaks Festival.
Luckily the sun was shining and we were able to enjoy the music in the garden. We were pleased to be joined by family, friends and members of the community.
What we now know as The Sevenoaks Festival began in 1970 by the headmaster at Sevenoaks School upgraded its previously internal “Paean” a series of musical events inaugurated in 1968 to celebrate the end of exams. The school hoped that it would be the “start of an annual event which would benefit the whole local community.”
