Activities at Emily Jackson House Care Home

Our activities team continues to offer a wide range of activities to both mentally and physically stimulate our residents. Our activities include one to one shopping, group outings in our minibus, and regularly attending our local church and bowling club. We also enjoy the entertainment from the musicians who come and visit us as well as our PAT dog. We have a range of activities so residents with all abilities and talents can join in activities and social gatherings. We encourage families and volunteers to share the joy with us by taking part in our social events as well.

Life at Emily Jackson House Care Home

Visiting a local church

Near to our home, we have a wonderful church that in addition to their usual services and Holy Communion, offer lunchtime recitals every Wednesday.

There is always a wide range of musicians and singers that perform at the church.  From Classical piano to a String Quartet to a Skiffle band to pop music to name but a few..

Residents braved the cold to enjoy a Christmas Concert with local singer June B. Not only was this good exercise as we walked to the church but we breathed in the fresh air and let the music lift our spirits.

It is wonderful see how the music effects everyone and they respond.

A visit from the local school children

We have been very festive at Emily Jackson House the last few weeks.

We have made mince pies and truffles. We have made Christmas cards, Christmas present labels and table decorations . We have had a mince pie tasting ( Sainsbury’s taste the difference was our favourite).

We have also enjoyed lots of live entertainment.   The residents particularly enjoy seeing the children at Christmas and we have been blessed with two local school choirs coming to visit.

The children were amazing and filled us with festive cheer.

Armistice Day

On Saturday 11th November,  we commemorated the signing of the Armistice Day agreement on the day that the guns finally fell silent. Our residents joined the rest of the nation in holding a two minute silence on the eleventh hour on the eleventh day, of the eleventh month.

It is very important that we keep the memories of those who fought in the World Wars and the honour the contribution of everyone involved.

Earlier in the week, we enjoyed a special church service from the vicar of St Luke’s to remember and honour our veterans.

Something spooky going on at Emily Jackson House!

Residents, staff, family and friends had fun at our Halloween party on 31st October. We played games, decorated cakes, danced and enjoyed a delicious supper laid on by the catering team.

Thanks to all the staff and families that took the time to dress up and join in the fun.

And a massive shout out to local business, Life on High for donating your Halloween decorations for our party. Thank you. What amazing community spirit!!

A lovely lunch, and entertainment from June B

Thank you to all the wonderful families who joined us yesterday for lunch.

So lovely to have you all there. It was such a good afternoon!

We all enjoyed a delicious meal prepared by the catering team followed by some music from June B. (The Listening Room Music Agency).

June B had us up dancing and feeling good. There was such a great atmosphere.

Oyez, oyez, oyez!!

We were delighted to have a visit from the Sevenoaks Town Crier, Chris Conlan.

Chris is the youngest Town Crier in the country. He was very knowledgeable and fun. Residents enjoyed listening to him and learning about what he does.
