Activities at Dudwell St Mary Care Home

Our activity coordinator provides our home with a fun-packed weekly programme to engage all residents. Past activities include bread making, pottery, knitting, and card making. Not only do we run regular exercise programmes for the residents but we also have our regular entertainers come in to entertain our residents and their families. The activity coordinator visits residents on a one-to-one basis, for a chat, manicure and hand massage. The activity co-ordinator said "Residents love the one-to-ones and especially enjoy the manicure and hand massage, as not only is it stimulating but it boosts their confidence and pride in their appearance.''

Linda Lawes

Activities Coordinator

My Name is Linda and I am one of the Activities Co-ordinators at Dudwell St. Mary care home.

I joined Dudwell St Mary in April 2008 as a Housekeeping Assistant and later became the Head of Housekeeping.  In 2018 I then became an activities co-ordinator where I brought lots of new exciting ideas to the role.

I am passionate about my role within the home and aim to bring a smile to all our residents’ faces through different types of activities. My personality is bright and bubbly so aim to share this each day at work.

As I gather the residents likes and dislikes if you would like to come and chat with me about your family member please contact the home to arrange.

Gentlemen's gardening club

We have recently set up a little gardening club for the gentlemen in the home. They are really enjoying planting, potting and lending a helping hand.

Fun in the sun

Summer is here and Staff and residents have been taking full advantage of the lovely gardens. There has been scrabble, bingo and even some live entertainment too.

Celebrating Carers Week

For Carer's week, we wanted to make everyone feel very special and appreciated the fantastic work they do every day. Staff were treated to deliveries of chocolates and homemade cards. Our Head chef also put together a wonderful spread of party food for everyone to enjoy. Staff even took to the streets to deliver sweet treats to those carers in the community that also work very hard supporting people.

Supporting our Community on Dementia week

Staff at Dudwell took to the streets to deliver packages of care to those locally that need it the most. We supported Wealden dementia action alliance and help make up over 200 bags filled with activities, information and goodies too. They were so well received, we are looking forward to helping them again soon.

Live Floristry Masterclass with Bloominghaus

Residents were treated to a virtual flower arranging demonstration with a difference, it was wonderful that our residents were able to follow along and create their own floral displays using flowers from our own garden and the local florist.  It was a really enjoyable afternoon, we’re so grateful to Michal and Michael from Blooming Haus for this experience.”

Entertainment is back

Oh how we have missed live music here at Dudwell st Mary. Residents were treated to some fantastic old and new medleys from one of our firm favourite local entertainers David. We cant wait to have him back he brightened up the home.
