"Mum and Dad have both been in Dudwells for almost three years now and they have been treated with kindness and compassion. They both appreciate the family atmosphere and how the carers take the time to really get to know them and personalise their care and nursing support. Dad has been very ill over the past months and as a family we really appreciate the high quality of nursing care that he has received and the support given to Mum throughout this time"

We have been working with Dudwell St Mary for a few months now and when we first arrived the scenery was stunning. The staff have been nothing but helpful and there is a really good energy about the place. The home is clean and seems to be plenty activities for the residents to join in with. What a lovely place!

My mum has been living at Dudwell St Mary for about 18 months and from the moment we were lucky enough to find a place for her there, at pretty short notice, our experience has been excellent. Without exception the staff are all wonderful, it has been a delight to get to know many of them. Her room and the facilities are all fantastically maintained, and the food offering in the lovely restaurant is varied and appropriate to the guests needs. Mum settled in so well and is happy in this very caring environment. Thank you so much to Emma and her great team.

I am so happy with the care mum receives at Dudwell St Mary’s. When doing my research for the best and most appropriate residential setting for mum, I decided this is the only home I would be happy to live in so that’s how I made the decision. All the staff are lovely and genuinely care. They take time to really get to know residents and meet their needs in all regards.

"Mum has almost been at Dudwell St. Marys for a year now. She settled in very quickly thanks to the kind, caring setting, superb food, clean home and great activities. The activities really are very good indeed; Mum has enjoyed many visiting singers and allsorts and has been out with staff as well as days out with me. Mum definitely considers Dudwell St. Marys her home and she regards the carers as family. I think that's what stands out is that it is a family atmosphere where the residents have a strong sense of belonging and family members feel connected too. I love the excellent communication system whereby I can ask questions as they come up so nothing builds up. Due to the nature of Mum's condition she has recently experienced very poor health and I have been so grateful and reassured by the excellent care Mum has received, staff really do their absolute best for mum. Staff liaise with the GP surgery and myself so we all know what the plan of action is."

They take the time to understand each resident as an individual, respecting their preferences and encouraging their independence wherever possible. My aunt has always felt safe, valued, and cared for, and as her family, that peace of mind means the world to us.

The home itself is always clean, welcoming, and well-organised. Activities are thoughtfully planned and inclusive, helping residents stay mentally stimulated and socially connected. Communication with families is excellent, and we’ve always felt included and informed.

"I visited my grandad on 30th may at Dudwell, he was in the ground floor lounge area with other residents. They had a disco party which looked really fun and all the residents were enjoying it, they all had on funky coloured glasses and other props. The DJ was really good and entertaining with the different types of music playing and also the staff that were present enjoyed themselves. My grandad was really enjoying himself and I hope they do another disco soon as it was so good to see everyone having fun."

"My wife and I (and our lovely dog) visited the care home on the open day to visit two neighbours. We were immediately impressed by the staff and the feeling of care the were giving. We are both in our middle 80's, still fit and healthy but realise we may both need a care home in the near future. Dudwell St Mary is definitely where we would choose as we live in the area."

"My brother, who was a resident of Barchester Dudwell St Mary Care Home from June 2021 and had severe Alzheimer's, recently passed away there in December 2024 at the age of 86 years. I cannot praise the staff there enough, they cared for him with compassion and understanding as he could be difficult at times. We were welcome to visit him at any time and we would enjoy the musical activities with him, often a live singer. The staff would spend the time to talk to him about his previous hobbies. He had a very pleasant room with lovely views over the countryside - the home itself is in a beautiful setting and we feel we could not have chosen a better place for him to spend his final years."
