Activities at Cumberland Grange Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Gosia Maliga

Activities Coordinator

I have been in the care sector since 2008, and I also have a degree in teaching. I am here to arrange and run a varied range of activities for our residents to take part in, keep them entertained and enrich their lives. From flower arranging, quizzes, arts and crafts to movies in the cinema, I try to make sure there is something for everyone here to take part in, and tailor events to suit each resident.

Life at Cumberland Grange Care Home

St Patrick's Day

This St Patricks Day, we will be joined by Pete the Poet. Shamrocks and the rolling hills of Ireland will play a big part of Pete’s creative therapy session where our residents will enjoy some painting and poetry. We can’t wait!

World Poetry Day

World Poetry Day is such a wonderful day of the year. A Day to celebrate our favourite poets and poems. A day to re-visit and re-live those gripping moments of listening to poetry that gives us Goosebumps.

Our residents and staff here at Cumberland Grange will embrace World Poetry Day and share our much loved pieces with one another.

Nescafé Virtual Event

Thank you to Nescafé for hosting an interesting talk on the history of Nescafé products, showing us how you sustainably farm your coffee beans and giving us a virtual tour of one of your factories.

Our residents also enjoyed an iced coffee which our Head Chef John made for us all whilst we watched.

40 Chocolate Brownies going to a good cause

40 Brownies all freshly made by our amazing Head Chef John, on their way to St Thomas Food Fight.

What is St Thomas Food Fight?

They are an incredible volunteer group, providing free food for those in need, whether in poverty, are homeless or vulnerable.

As a community we must come together and look after each other. So here at Cumberland Grange we are delighted to support this wonderful volunteer group who are on a mission to help others.

Valentines Day

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY

Today our residents enjoyed a lovely afternoon with Sound Easy. Lots of wonderful songs were sang.

There was a lot of toe tapping and singing, as we all enjoyed being together enjoying the music.

Our head chef John also whipped up some of these scrumptious valentines inspired cupcakes for the occasion.

Trips to the seaside

Oh how it feels so good to get out and about, especially to the seaside.

Every day we do lots of wonderful life enriching activities and one of our favourite things to do is to go out on the mini bus and visit different places.

Yesterday we went to Exmouth beach for a stroll and some fresh air.
