Activities at Cumberland Grange Care Home
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Gosia Andrews
Hello, my name is Gosia and I am the Activities Co-Ordinator here at Cumberland Grange.
I have been in the care sector since 2008, and I also have a degree in teaching. I am here to arrange and run a varied Life Enrichment Programme which is full of fun activities for our residents to take part in. We do lots of different activities here which change on a regular basis, including weekly trips out in our mini bus, flower arranging, live musical performances, arts and crafts, cheese and wine nights and so much more. We also have groups which happen every week, mostly lead by our residents, including Poetry Club, Gardening Club, Politics and Pastries, Cumberland Grange Choir and Knit and Natter.
We have monthly resident meetings where we discuss life at Cumberland Grange. We talk about the activities that we currently run, including activities that our residents would like us to incorporate into the planner.
Making wishes come true is also something that we love to do. So, if our resident has a wish, together we try our best to make that happen, because life at Cumberland is about having fun and making even more special memories.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Choir Mondays
Cumberland Grange Choir, for those who love to sing!
Feet were tapping, hands were clapping and beautiful singing voices were heard throughout the home.
A lovely afternoon.

COCKTAIL MASTERCLASS WITH KIRSTY
This week some of our residents enjoyed a cocktail masterclass with Kirsty our Activities Coordinator.
Shaking, stirring and making different cocktails and mocktails with friends!
A lovely afternoon had by all.

VE DAY CELEBRATIONS
Victory in Europe Day celebrated with a party for our residents! Joined by Gemma Ruby, a Professional Vocalist. Thank you so much Gemma.
Our residents enjoyed lots of dancing and a wonderful singalong all throughout.
We also enjoyed cream teas, fruit platters and Pimm's thanks to our brilliant chefs.
A very special day and one which brings a lot of reflection and memories.

Staff Meeting
Last week, we had our staff meeting led by our General Manager Beth.
It is coming up to a year since Beth joined us, so we came together to talk about all of the amazing things that we do here at Cumberland, as well as discussing the importance of continuing to deliver the high level of care and service that we give to our residents as our number one priority.
As a home, we are always striving to be the very best. We have such an incredible team, full of hard working dedicated individuals who do this job for the fulfilment of seeing our residents well cared for and happy.
We want Cumberland Grange to feel like a home from home, and with some truly wonderful feedback that we have received this year alone so far from our residents and their families, we know that we have created just that.
We are individuals who are proud to work within this team.
Our staff, our residents, their families and our volunteers are what make Cumberland Grange a truly special place!

Easter Celebrations
What a wonderful afternoon we had on Easter Monday celebrating with an Easter party!
Thank you so much to our amazing chefs and kitchen team for putting on a delicious spread, thank you to Dave for always getting us up dancing and singing, and thank you to C&L Aquatics, Reptiles and Pet Centre for joining us with some beautiful animals and reptiles.
So lovely to be joined by lots of families, too.
Such a brilliant afternoon as always!
