Activities at Cumberland Grange Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Gosia Maliga

Activities Coordinator

I have been in the care sector since 2008, and I also have a degree in teaching. I am here to arrange and run a varied range of activities for our residents to take part in, keep them entertained and enrich their lives. From flower arranging, quizzes, arts and crafts to movies in the cinema, I try to make sure there is something for everyone here to take part in, and tailor events to suit each resident.

100 LAPS for Age UK Exeter

What a wonderful afternoon! The rain held off for us and we all contributed to our goal and we SMASHED IT. 100 laps of the garden in aid of Age UK.

Well done to all of our residents, staff, family and community for helping us and joining in on the fun and dressing up for the occasion!

There’s been a lot of belly laughing and fun times had.

Thank you to the amazing Julia for singing and keeping us motivated throughout.

An afternoons work all for an amazing charity who we work closely with here in Exeter.

A TRIP TO THE AQUARIUM

Last week some of our residents fancied a trip to the aquarium, so Mandy our Activities Coordinator made that happen and organised a lovely day out with the help of Kyle our Community Lead and Terri our Care Assistant.

After, they all finished with a delicious lunch overlooking the harbour, before grabbing an ice cream and making their way back home!

A great day and by all.

NATIONAL GARDENING DAY

What a glorious day together out in the garden planting, picking and pruning in the sunshine, celebrating National Gardening Day.

Our residents bring great knowledge to our gardening club, allowing us to grow lots of delicious herbs, fruits and vegetables!

POP-UP SHOP FRIDAYS

Thank you so much to Wendy at Zunzun for coming along and joining us with your beautiful pop-up shop!

Our residents loved it.

Whilst we do have regular shopping trips out on the mini bus, it’s lovely to have the opportunity to purchase goodies from the comfort of our own home!

MINI BUS TRIPS

Yesterday we took a trip to one of our local garden centres for a little mooch, a beer and some cake!

Regular mini bus trips are a big part of our weekly life enrichment schedule here at Cumberland Grange. From supermarket trips fo stock up on essentials to days out to the aquarium and everything else in between. There is something for everyone and many of our outings are chosen by our residents!

Easter Weekend

Easter at Cumberland Grange has been full of love, laughter, singing and dancing.

We’ve had a visit from three beautiful little chicks which have filled our home with happiness. They have now gone to their new forever home where they will fulfil a happy and wonderful life.

We had one of our favourite musicians join us for an Easter party, and we have eaten lots of delicious treats.

It has been a wholesome weekend.
