Activities at Cumberland Grange Care Home
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Gosia Andrews
Hello, my name is Gosia and I am the Activities Co-Ordinator here at Cumberland Grange.
I have been in the care sector since 2008, and I also have a degree in teaching. I am here to arrange and run a varied Life Enrichment Programme which is full of fun activities for our residents to take part in. We do lots of different activities here which change on a regular basis, including weekly trips out in our mini bus, flower arranging, live musical performances, arts and crafts, cheese and wine nights and so much more. We also have groups which happen every week, mostly lead by our residents, including Poetry Club, Gardening Club, Politics and Pastries, Cumberland Grange Choir and Knit and Natter.
We have monthly resident meetings where we discuss life at Cumberland Grange. We talk about the activities that we currently run, including activities that our residents would like us to incorporate into the planner.
Making wishes come true is also something that we love to do. So, if our resident has a wish, together we try our best to make that happen, because life at Cumberland is about having fun and making even more special memories.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Cumberland Grange Care Home

Christmas decorating has begun!
It has begun! Last week our residents started to decorate the home, starting with the ground floor and working their way up getting it Christmas ready and looking beautiful.
We had a wonderful time together decorating whilst listening to Christmas music.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service
Today we had a wonderful visit from our amazing fire crew here in Exeter to give our residents a talk on keeping safe in the home.
Whilst Bob our Head of Maintenance does a fantastic job at ensuring our fire alarm systems are working and continuously tested here at Cumberland Grange, it was great to meet with the team at Middlemoor and have a more in depth chat on what we should and shouldn’t do. Invaluable advice that we are all very grateful for.

F I R E W O R K S
Although the weather wasn’t quite on our side, we still managed to catch the firework displays over the weekend.
We enjoyed some delicious luxury hot chocolates and marshmallow treats all wrapped up in blankets to keep warm on one of our wonderful top floor balcony's.

REMEMBRANCE
Yesterday afternoon our residents were been busy creating a Remembrance display which will be enjoyed on the lead up to Remembrance Day. Our activities team have taken photos of our residents hands and those residents have made poppies which sit within.
Conversation and memories have been sparked around the home amongst our residents and staff. Remembrance is such an important time of year for many of our residents living here at Cumberland Grange, so to be able to put such a striking display together has reinforced that feeling of togetherness.

West Town Farm
Thank you so much to Andy, farmer of West Town Farm in Ide for a tour of your incredible premises and kind pumpkin and squash donation.
We feel extremely grateful to connect with such wonderful people local to us!

A visit from some beautiful reptiles
Thank you so much to Troy from C&L Aquatics, Reptiles and Pet Centre for bringing in your wonderful chameleon, bearded dragon and snake for our residents to see and enjoy yesterday afternoon.
We all thoroughly enjoyed their company and sweet natures, as well as learning some facts about these magnificent reptiles.
Our fantastic activities team are already looking into which animal visits we can have next.
