Activities at Cubbington Mill Care Home

Every day we run different activities throughout our home. The activities are designed and adapted to each individuals personal needs. The activities are designed to mentally and physically stimulate the people we care for and also to enhance their life skills and feelings of purpose and self-worth. The activities encourage interaction on a one to one basis, in small groups, in large groups and some are designed for the whole home including staff to be involved in.

We are registered with the National Activity Providers Association (NAPA) which ensures we are able to achieve and continually progress to enhance the quality of life for those we support in the home. We provide entertainers such as singers, musicians, magicians, puppeteers, poets and dancers. We also have regular exercise classes and arts and craft classes. Relatives and visitors will be able to see what me make in these classes on display around the home. We have regular trips out on the mini bus to visit garden centres, enjoy high tea, visit the butterfly farm and spend the day at the zoo with a picnic. We encourage the local community, schools, colleges and relatives to come and join us for activities, tea and cake and to visit to share their skills as much as possible.

Staff from across the home are always willing to help and share their knowledge and skills across a whole range of activities we have had everything from carers preforming Bollywood style dancing to cooking classes from the chef. We feel activities are a vital part of the residents lives to ensure they are stimulated mentally and entertained.

Residents lend their ears to live performance

Residents and guests at Cubbington Mill care home in Leamington Spa enjoyed a morning of grins with a live music performance that took place at the home. Local group, Arts Uplift performed a selection of classic hits with their ‘’Rewind 70’s Show’’.

Rewind 70s Show

Cubbington Mill had the chance to reminisce of times gone by including holidays, music, classic TV adverts and some pretty snazzy glasses!

Residents joined in with the singing, and clapped along as the band performed their finale song. The hospitality team at the home also provided a spread of sweet and savoury treats for guests to enjoy during the show.

One resident said “I haven’t heard some of these songs in many years. The classics never go out of style!”

Trip to St Nicholas Park

A lovely morning stroll our ladies had this morning at St Nicholas Park in Warwick. We had a coffee and biscuit followed by meeting a four legged friend called Rosie who was a golden doodle! We were all amazed by the scenery, flowers and how busy the park was with people enjoying the glorious sunshine we had.

St Nicholas Park is a truly beautiful setting, and is perfect for picnics or simply a lovely walk. The lawns and gardens are ideal for a stroll. Originally a meadow, St Nicholas Park in Warwick was laid out in the 1930s. Formal gardens and a Children’s Corner were created. After the Second World War, the ground to the east was laid out as playing fields. Later, the leisure center replaced outdoor swimming pools in the park. The cottages near the main car park were once a watermill.

Home present cheque to charity

Cubbington Mill Care Home in Royal Leamington Spa recently presented ArtsUplift a cheque for £1,900 towards bringing 'Rewind-1970's' performances to two local communities of older vulnerable adults. Jenny Davis, founder and director of Arts Uplift has been working in community arts for 22 years.

We welcomed ArtsUplift to a small gathering in the home’s garden alongside High Sheriff Sophie, some fizz and cake to receive the cheque and celebrate being awarded the grant.
