Activities at Cubbington Mill Care Home
Every day we run different activities throughout our home. The activities are designed and adapted to each individuals personal needs. The activities are designed to mentally and physically stimulate the people we care for and also to enhance their life skills and feelings of purpose and self-worth. The activities encourage interaction on a one to one basis, in small groups, in large groups and some are designed for the whole home including staff to be involved in.
We are registered with the National Activity Providers Association (NAPA) which ensures we are able to achieve and continually progress to enhance the quality of life for those we support in the home. We provide entertainers such as singers, musicians, magicians, puppeteers, poets and dancers. We also have regular exercise classes and arts and craft classes. Relatives and visitors will be able to see what me make in these classes on display around the home. We have regular trips out on the mini bus to visit garden centres, enjoy high tea, visit the butterfly farm and spend the day at the zoo with a picnic. We encourage the local community, schools, colleges and relatives to come and join us for activities, tea and cake and to visit to share their skills as much as possible.
Staff from across the home are always willing to help and share their knowledge and skills across a whole range of activities we have had everything from carers preforming Bollywood style dancing to cooking classes from the chef. We feel activities are a vital part of the residents lives to ensure they are stimulated mentally and entertained.

Hi my name is Rose and I am the activities coordinator at Cubbington Mill!
I have been working in care since I was 17 and very passionate about my role, always trying to do bigger & better. I am one of Cubbington Mills Dementia Champions. I'm very privileged to work with the wonderful people and residents at Barchester's Cubbington Mill and hope we all make some lovely memories together! I LOVE to find out about residents interests & hobbies through tools like the “Getting To Know Me Booklets”.

Life at Cubbington Mill Care Home
Pub Crawl
Tuesdays ‘’Gents Club’’ have decided to do a Cubbington Mill pub crawl of Warwickshire, visiting pubs in the local area with a canal or pretty view, ladies of course were welcome. Rose and Resident Ambassador Bruce got their thinking caps on and decided a pub crawl of Warwickshire would be a great idea for all the residents to be out and about making use of the homes mini bus, and volunteer Glenda lends a hand. The ladies & gents love to reminiscence in beer gardens and surprisingly it may even be a residents first time in a pub!
Afternoon Tea at The Fountains
Resident Hazel, along with other Cubbington Mill Residents celebrated National Picnic Month with afternoon tea at our sister home, The Fountains in Solihull. We met up with their residents and had a picnic together with fresh homemade sausage rolls by the homes head chef! The teddy bears really did come to our picnic. Meeting up with Barchester homes gives our residents a chance to meet up with residents in similar positions in their life so there is a mutual understanding and common ground.
Herstory of Mayfair
Residents across our services had a fantastic time joining Mandy Morrow for a virtual walking tour to learn about the ‘Herstory’ of Mayfair. The Mayfair of Nightingales may be long gone but it still holds a 20th century charm. Birthplace to the late Queen Elizabeth II, home to one of WWII's most decorated female war heroes and a tale of a wealthy Aristocrat and one of France's favourite designers.
We were delighted to take a walk down memory lane and discover stories from one of London's most iconic areas. The experience was truly enjoyed by all.
History of Wall's icecream
Residents across our homes had a fantastic time during a special live virtual event in celebration on National Ice Cream Day. Wall’s team took us on a great journey through history, sharing fascinating details about the brand since its launch in 1922. We learned about major innovations such as the introduction of Mr Whippy, Cornetto, Viennetta, Twister, and Carte d'Or.
Residents were treated to a singalong to Cornetto classic ads, an interactive quiz about fun Wall’s facts and best-of-all, an ice-cream tasting session. It was a delightful experience for everyone, especially our ice-cream lovers.
Resident Ambassador scoops coveted award
Bruce Williamson at Cubbington Mill Care Home in Royal Leamington Spa has been crowned Resident Ambassador of 2023 for the North Division in the Barchester Care Awards 2023 and is through to the national round of judging.
The Barchester Care Awards celebrate the staff who go the extra mile for the benefit of the 13,000 residents living in Barchester’s 252 care homes and private hospitals across the country. Categories range from ‘Registered Nurse of the Year’ and ‘Carer of the Year’ to ‘Dementia Care Champion’ and ‘Activities Coordinator of the Year’.
