Activities at Cubbington Mill Care Home

Every day we run different activities throughout our home. The activities are designed and adapted to each individuals personal needs. The activities are designed to mentally and physically stimulate the people we care for and also to enhance their life skills and feelings of purpose and self-worth. The activities encourage interaction on a one to one basis, in small groups, in large groups and some are designed for the whole home including staff to be involved in.

We are registered with the National Activity Providers Association (NAPA) which ensures we are able to achieve and continually progress to enhance the quality of life for those we support in the home. We provide entertainers such as singers, musicians, magicians, puppeteers, poets and dancers. We also have regular exercise classes and arts and craft classes. Relatives and visitors will be able to see what me make in these classes on display around the home. We have regular trips out on the mini bus to visit garden centres, enjoy high tea, visit the butterfly farm and spend the day at the zoo with a picnic. We encourage the local community, schools, colleges and relatives to come and join us for activities, tea and cake and to visit to share their skills as much as possible.

Staff from across the home are always willing to help and share their knowledge and skills across a whole range of activities we have had everything from carers preforming Bollywood style dancing to cooking classes from the chef. We feel activities are a vital part of the residents lives to ensure they are stimulated mentally and entertained.

A trip to Hatton Country World

Residents enjoyed a great day at Hatton Coutry World. We walked around the different animal areas/enclosures, petted, fed and looked at various farm land animals. Residents even got up close with some creepy crawlies too, and held a snake. Lilly, Pat, Una and Queenie enjoyed a lovely picnic on their day out. We can't wait to visit again.

Baking Club

We had a wonderful time at the Baking Club today! Our lovely residents helped us make a delicious carrot cake that everyone enjoyed. It was so moist and fluffy, Yum! John, who is 110 years old, said that when he was a young boy, he remembered his mother always told him to eat lots of carrots because they would make him see better in the dark. We are so lucky to have such a vibrant and cheerful community here at the care home!

Gents Club

The Cubbington Mill's Gents Club is on a mission to visit every pub in Warwickshire and have a pint of their finest ale. They are not letting their age or their residence in a care home stop them from having fun and making memories. They have already ticked off five pubs from their list: The Red Lion, Rugby Tavern, Twoboats, The Fusilier and The Blue Lias. They enjoyed the friendly atmosphere at each stop. They also made some new friends along the way and shared stories and jokes with the locals. They are already looking forward to their next pub crawl!

Snack and Chat

Our residents enjoyed some Community engagement with Cubbington OAP association at the monthly snack & chat in the village hall across the road from our care home.

Residents always love attending as they get the chance to speak to new people and meet old friends there.

A trip to Redwings

Resident Liz used to be a jockey and is a donator to Redwings Horse Sanctuary at Oxhill. On a reminisce session with Liz, Rose, our activities Coordinator, found out about Liz’s love for horses and knew there was no other place to spend the day then with the fantastic team at Redwings, we even took a picnic to enjoy in the glorious sunshine.
