Activities at Cookridge Court Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Laura Marshall

Head Activities Coordinator (on Maternity leave)

My name is Laura and I am the Head Activities Coordinator here at Cookridge Court. I have worked in care since 2014 and get so much satisfaction out of knowing I have made a difference to people’s days and have filled the home with a sense of community and happiness. We have created a wonderful culture within our home and we work together to give residents the best possible experience. We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active and ensure we all know each residents' preferences so that we can deliver a person-centered program of events and activities. The strong relationships we build with our residents, their families and friends is essential to our homely feel.

Eyes Down!

What a perfect way to spend a rainy afternoon, than sit together and have a game of Bingo.

Bingo is a great social activity that reduces the risk of isolation, stress and anxiety, but positively promotes cognitive functions and builds friendships amongst one another.

Our residents at Cookridge Court always look forward to our weekly bingo session. Everyone that joins has a fun and fabulous time

Merry Christmas Eve!

Residents and staff have had a wonderful day getting ready for the big day tomorrow. Christmas spirit is in full swing!

We wish you a Blooming Christmas

Over the past few days our residents have had an amazing time getting creative and making Christmas wreaths! They enjoyed a master class given by Blooming Haus - Floral Engineers. Using the hints and tips given the residents have really put together some beautiful wreaths.

Our residents were so happy with what they had produced, they asked our maintenance team if they could display it on the suite and of course it was a yes!

Pamper Time with Ernie the Elf!

Did someone say pamper time?

Ernie was found in residents Florence’s room enjoying a lovely ‘bubble bath’ with a cheeky glass of Merlot. Ernie is absolutely living his best life here at Cookridge Court. Florence on the other hand found it highly amusing and commented “He obviously takes after me”!

Magic of the Nutcracker

We experienced the magic of the Nutcracker with a special interactive workshop led by English National Ballet Associate Artists.

Our residents were able to take a magical journey thorough Edwardian London and to learn more about the enchanted Nutcracker characters: Clara, the Mouse King, and her valiant Nutcracker doll.

The session included a chair-based dance workshop, clips of the ballet on stage and a Christmas carol sing-along, truly enjoyed by all.

Christmas Truffle Making

We had a lovely time joining Paul Hawkins and Steve Wilkes from Unilever for an exciting immersive Christmas experience.

Our residents were welcomed with chocolate treats as Paul and Steve took them on an exciting chocolate truffle making and biscuit decorating journey.

To finish off the Christmas special event, our residents enjoyed a themed quiz and a singalong.

We all had a wonderful time.
