Activities at Collingtree Park Care Home

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as they can, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join in with activities and events as often as they can.

Skye Summerton

Activities Coordinator

Hello, my name is Skye and I'm the Activities Coordinator here at Collingtree Park care home. My role is to enrich the lives of our residents by providing stimulating and person-centred activities. We offer something for everyone, including arts and crafts, games and live entertainment including visits to places of interest in the local area. I love to provide one-to-one time and sensory activities with residents who need a little more support.

Getting to know our residents better is so important, and through regular meetings with family and friends I can gain a greater understanding of their loved ones' interests and life prior to joining the Collingtree Park community.

We are an animal friendly care home with a resident cat called 'Bella' and daily visits from our residents' family dogs. We understand the power of PET Therapy and welcome animals of all sizes from mini beasts to the quarterly Alpaca visits a local farm.

We are always open to new ideas. If you would like to get involved in any of our Life Enrichment activities or have a skill, or project you'd like to share with our residents, please click here to contact me direct. New entertainers and community links are always welcome.

Happy Manicure Day

We love manicure day at Collingtree Park. Whilst our ladies enjoyed their weekly manicure, Derek told me how he used to let his daughters practice their beautician skills on him too... Dad duties!

In spirit of this, he kindly asked if I would like to practice my painting before giving manicures to the ladies - and he was so pleased with the result he kept it on to show to my next clients. Happy manicure day from the ladies (and Derek) at Collingtree Park.

Happy 103rd Birthday 'Joan'

Yesterday we celebrated a very special birthday at Collingtree Park with one of our fabulous residents; Joan turning 103 years young!

She enjoyed an array of cakes, cards and presents - as well as lots of singing and celebrations with staff and family too. Liz, Joan's daughter said "Thank you so much for everything you do for mum, she is so happy here".

Taking a Stroll

Pam and activities lead; Skye made the most of the dry afternoon by taking a stroll around the neighbourhood. We spent time identifying different types of mushrooms, flowers and trees (whilst also trying to guess how tall they were!) and enjoying the simple pleasure of some sunshine on our faces! We came back just in time for keep fit and a cup of tea!

Reaching for the Stars

Keep fit - reach for the stars! It may be raining outside, but we bought smiles and laughter with our keep fit session today. Thank you Anya for 'singing in the rain' and helping our residents to feel revitalised for the week ahead.

Enjoying Enid Blyton

To celebrate Enid Blyton's birthday our Activities Lead; Skye bought Pam some of her childhood stories to read. As they sat together Skye and Pam reminisced about reading the stories as children. Pam informed us all that for a short period in her younger days she actually lived opposite to Enid Blyton!

We hope Pam enjoys reading The Faraway Tree over the weekend.

Carpet Bowls with 'Gemma'

The lower lounge was full for carpet bowls today as we introduced our new Activities Assistant; Gemma to the competitive ways of the Collingtree Park Bowls team!

Featuring newly named Trick-Shot Joan, and Semi-Pro Mary!
