Activities at Collingtree Park Care Home

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as they can, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join in with activities and events as often as they can.

Activities Coordinator

Martin Tilly-Reed

Activities Coordinator

Hello, my name is Martin, I'm the activities coordinator here at Collingtree Park

My role is to ensure that our activities, outings and the entertainment we provide is stimulating and inclusive of all our residents no matter their challenges. It is important to me that our weekly calendar offers enriching experiences with music from live entertainers, visits to various locations outside the home, as well as arts and crafts tailored to individual abilities.

Getting to know our residents better is so important, and through regular family and friends’ meetings we can gain a greater understanding of their loved ones' interests and life prior to joining Collingtree Park that will make for a richer activities program to be developed.

I look forward to getting to know you, and your loved ones.

We are always open to new ideas. If you would like to get involved in any of our Life Enrichment activities or have a skill, or project you'd like to share with our residents, please click here  to contact the activities team direct. New entertainers and community links are always welcome.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

A lovely afternoon for Jean and Barbara, who enjoyed a trip to Wootton Community Centre for coffee and a cake. The pair had a walk around the park, before settling in for a sweet treat, where they reminisced about visiting the park with their children when they were younger. Jean said "it's lovely to get out and speak to people, it's so nice when they want to hear your stories too".

Ponies Bring Smiles

Staff and residents at Barchester’s Collingtree Park care home in Northampton were treated to a visit from some beautiful therapy ponies. Animals have a wonderful calming effect and the residents love to stroke them, talk to them and play with them. The home was visited by Lollipop and Moomin, from Lollipop Pony Parties, who caused a great deal of excitement. All of the residents enjoyed the visit, they petted and fed the animals who seemed to appreciate meeting their new friends.

Jamie, one of the handlers said: “Lollipop and Moomin have had a wonderful afternoon! I don’t think they have ever had so much attention! It was lovely to see the residents getting so much pleasure from the visit, I think it is fair to say Lollipop Ponies have a new fan club!”

Activities Coordinator, Skye said: “All our residents are fascinated by animals so we were delighted that they were able to visit. It was brilliant for our residents living with dementia to be able to ask questions about working with the animals and what it is like to look after them. We loved hearing all about their different personalities.”
