Activities at Collingtree Park Care Home

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as they can, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join in with activities and events as often as they can.

Skye Summerton

Activities Coordinator

Hello, my name is Skye and I'm the Activities Coordinator here at Collingtree Park care home. My role is to enrich the lives of our residents by providing stimulating and person-centred activities. We offer something for everyone, including arts and crafts, games and live entertainment including visits to places of interest in the local area. I love to provide one-to-one time and sensory activities with residents who need a little more support.

Getting to know our residents better is so important, and through regular meetings with family and friends I can gain a greater understanding of their loved ones' interests and life prior to joining the Collingtree Park community.

We are an animal friendly care home with a resident cat called 'Bella' and daily visits from our residents' family dogs. We understand the power of PET Therapy and welcome animals of all sizes from mini beasts to the quarterly Alpaca visits a local farm.

We are always open to new ideas. If you would like to get involved in any of our Life Enrichment activities or have a skill, or project you'd like to share with our residents, please click here to contact me direct. New entertainers and community links are always welcome.

Happy 90th Birthday 'Pam'

We wished the happiest of birthdays to our nonagenarian Pam this week, she enjoyed a day of singing, a room filled with birthday cards, and a special home-made health conscious cake courtesy of chef just for her. To top off her big day, both Pam and her husband Roy won our carpet bowls tournament, so had chocolates to take back to their room too. What a happy day we have had at Collingtree Park.

Dobbies and Dogs Delight

Jean and Barbara had a wonderful time on Saturday at Dobbies Wootton, Barbara enjoyed "testing the furniture" whilst Jean commented on how many pairs of shoes there were! Both ladies had a wonderful time browsing the shelves and meeting the Guide Dogs was a real treat.

Enjoying some Autumn Sunshine

This week we have had a trip to the garden centre, as well as making the most of the September sunshine by getting our residents out for walks around our local village. Our Daisy Lane community enjoyed exploring the local area; wildlife and flowers.

Getting Crafty with Magnets

Craft club on Daisy Lane this afternoon, talking about our friends and making our own fridge magnets! As you can see, carer Jun and housekeeping assistant Felicity were keen to get involved too - showing off their creative flare.

Day Trip to Dobbies Garden Centre

This week two of our residents enjoyed a trip to the local garden centre. Not only did they indulge in the most scrumptious coffee and cake, but they also got a sneak peek at the early Christmas preparations at the garden centre. Thank you to the team at Dobbies in Wootton, for their hospitality and for getting us all excited for the most wonderful time of the year.

Stay merry and bright, everyone!
