Activities at Collingtree Park Care Home

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as they can, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join in with activities and events as often as they can.

Activities Coordinator

Martin Tilly-Reed

Activities Coordinator

Hello, my name is Martin, I'm the activities coordinator here at Collingtree Park

My role is to ensure that our activities, outings and the entertainment we provide is stimulating and inclusive of all our residents no matter their challenges. It is important to me that our weekly calendar offers enriching experiences with music from live entertainers, visits to various locations outside the home, as well as arts and crafts tailored to individual abilities.

Getting to know our residents better is so important, and through regular family and friends’ meetings we can gain a greater understanding of their loved ones' interests and life prior to joining Collingtree Park that will make for a richer activities program to be developed.

I look forward to getting to know you, and your loved ones.

We are always open to new ideas. If you would like to get involved in any of our Life Enrichment activities or have a skill, or project you'd like to share with our residents, please click here  to contact the activities team direct. New entertainers and community links are always welcome.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Carol Singers from Local School

We loved having the choir from Standens Barn Primary School! join us last week for carol singing on Bluebell Walk. Pam, 91 said "it's wonderful to see the younger generation still singing the traditional carols, and we have loved having them to help us remember all of the words too!" We look forward to having you again in the new year Standens Barn!

Santa's In The House

Pop into our care home and visit Mr. Collingtree Claus! Our residents have loved having their afternoon coffee in reception with him, and lined up for photos too. We also have handmade cards for sale on our reception desk, made by a late residents daughter to support our resident fund. Thank you Liz!

Christmas Employee of the Month

Collingtree Park care home residents and colleagues wish to congratulate Activities Coordinator; Syke Summerton on receiving Employee of the Month for December 2023. Skye has been nominated by the residents of Collingtree Park for her dedication to making sure they enjoy every activity. Resident Pam mentioned that Syke's enthusiasm is infectious and makes them all smile!

Home Manager; Nikki Allen said "Skye loves finding ways to enrich the lives of our residents, she's always finding ways to keep them engaged, from trips to the pub with the Parish Council to regular school children visits and the classic word search that gets everyone stretching their brains. We all hope she enjoys spending the voucher and on receiving the well-deserved Barchester accolade. Keep up the good work and dedication to your Collingtree family."

Christmas Pyjama Parade

Our pyjama parade is raising money for the Alzheimer's Society, a care and research charity for people with dementia and their carers. At Collingtree Park, we offer dementia care and support. Many of our staff are Dementia Friends and are trained to understand and work with people living with dementia.

We are encouraging staff and visitors to donate £1, to support with the continued research and care from Alzheimer's Society. Either bring £1 to reception, or donate via this website, where you can find further information about the work Alzheimer's society do too: https://www.alzheimers.org.uk/get-involved/donate

Several of our residents enjoyed putting their PJs on and signing Christmas carols with the staff, even pet therapy puppy Diesel visited in his festive coat!

Andy Salter's No.1 Fan

We had a wonderful weekend - kickstarted by a performance from Andy Salter in the Bluebell Lounge, where we enjoyed Christmas carols, hits and festive treats too. For one resident, the performance was extra special. Eileen, has been a fan on Andy's piano playing for years, and even came to show us his CD, which Andy kindly signed!

Eileen said "I love this tape and it has really got me through a lot. Music just takes me to a different place and sometimes that's all you need to feel better". Andy said "It's amazing that you can perform in all these places, and every so often someone still surprises you".

Eileen and the other residents are already looking forward to Andy's next visit in the New Year, and have even asked for a copy of his CD for Christmas. See you in the new year Andy, we can't wait!

Unsung Hero 'Simon'

When our Head of Maintenance; Simon was asked to pose like Superman little did he know that he was going to be immortalised on a cup! The sons of one of our residents have been so impressed by the care and consideration Simon shows to their father on a daily basis that they wanted to present him with a personalised gift. Affectionately named 'Volcano man' Simon was visibly moved to receive the cup and couldn't quite believe brothers; Kim and Aidan had gone out of their way to give him such praise, as Simon says ‘I’m just doing my job’.

You’re a star in all our eye’s Simon… keep up the good work.
