Activities at Collingtree Park Care Home

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as they can, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join in with activities and events as often as they can.

Activities Coordinator

Martin Tilly-Reed

Activities Coordinator

Hello, my name is Martin, I'm the activities coordinator here at Collingtree Park

My role is to ensure that our activities, outings and the entertainment we provide is stimulating and inclusive of all our residents no matter their challenges. It is important to me that our weekly calendar offers enriching experiences with music from live entertainers, visits to various locations outside the home, as well as arts and crafts tailored to individual abilities.

Getting to know our residents better is so important, and through regular family and friends’ meetings we can gain a greater understanding of their loved ones' interests and life prior to joining Collingtree Park that will make for a richer activities program to be developed.

I look forward to getting to know you, and your loved ones.

We are always open to new ideas. If you would like to get involved in any of our Life Enrichment activities or have a skill, or project you'd like to share with our residents, please click here  to contact the activities team direct. New entertainers and community links are always welcome.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Library Visit Brings Back Memories

Pam and Jean enjoyed a wonderful afternoon choosing books for our care home as well as learning all about the history of Northamptonshire. Jean shared stories of Sunday visits to St. Mary's Church with her mum, while Pam told us all about her love of gardening. We then selected books to bring home to share with other residents. Pam said "Thank you so much for teaching me more about the place I now live in. It's been a really fun afternoon - with lots of learning too. "

Keep on Shakin' for Elvis!

Happy birthday Elvis, what a wonderful morning we have had celebrating the 'wonder of you! Our Daisy Lane residents have enjoyed an array of fitness activities, as well as music and movement to celebrate 'The King' Elvis's birthday by keeping fit and having fun.

We began our day with floor games and fitness, including chair yoga and parachute games, followed by singing along to our favourites by Elvis himself. The music had us 'all shook up' as we danced and sang along. Thank you, thank you very much!

Festive Pet Therapy with Eva

This morning we had a lovely festive visit from Eva (the elf) Pets As Therapy and Gaye. Our residents really benefit from animal therapy as animals provide a sense of companionship and calmness.

Pets As Therapy (PAT) is a national charity that enhances the health and wellbeing of thousands of people in communities across the UK. We strive to ensure that everyone, no matter their circumstances, has access to the companionship of an animal.

Our volunteers and their temperament-assessed pets visit establishments such as care homes, hospitals, hospices, schools and prisons, and bring smiles to many faces. People of all ages get the chance to chat to someone — and stroke a friendly dog or cat.

Happy Birthday 'Ivy'

As well as saying goodbye to 2023, we also said happy birthday to our very own poet, Ivy who turned 96 on New Years Eve, and told us "I waited until the last day of the year so that everyone would remember me".

Ivy enjoyed her fabulous Collingtree cake made by chef Jennifer, which she shared with her daughter, grandson and great-granddaughter too! What a fabulous way to celebrate. Happy birthday Ivy from your Collingtree family.

Gifting on Christmas Day

On the 25th Day of Christmas Santa's little helpers were been busy at Collingtree Park, delivering presents to our wonderful residents!

Everyone was so pleased with their gifts, Jean's daughter said "It was so thoughtful of you to buy mum make up, and we have had such a laugh putting it on this morning! Thank you for looking after mum". Ivy's daughter was so grateful that we had purchased her a poetry book, with large print, so that she can continue to enjoy reading her favourite poems.

A thank you to the fabulous staff working throughout Christmas, to keep everything running smoothly too - Merry Christmas from everyone at Collingtree Park
