Activities at Claremont Parkway Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Remembrance Day

Remembrance Sunday is a day to commemorate the contribution of British and Commonwealth military and civilian servicemen and women in the two World Wars and later conflicts.

During the week, our residents enjoyed putting a remembrance display together, decorated with their own handmade poppies and placing remembrance crosses on a silhouette of the unnamed soldier for family members lost to war.

On Sunday we sat together to watch the Cenotaph wreath laying and on Monday 11th we took time to remember in silence at 11:11 in honour of all who have died in the line of duty.

Little Witches bring Happy Spells

Here at Claremont Parkway we enjoyed getting in the Halloween spirit with squash decoration, and a visit from some of the cutest little witches who were visiting their granddad; Melvyn who went around the home casting good luck spells for everyone to have a spooktacular time together!

Our varied life enrichment programme keeps residents active, and provides a daily choice of engaging physical, mental and spiritual activities tailored to residents’ interests and abilities.

Golden Wedding Celebrations

Please join us in congratulating Melvyn and Barbara on 50 'golden' years of marriage on 26th October 2024.

Melvyn and Barbara Gray got married on this day in 1974; having first met in Warmington in August 1971. On recalling the day he met Barbara, Melvyn said; “It was on a Saturday night and I’ve never looked back.”

The couples’ first house together was in Kettering, before making the move to Barton Seagrave to set up home and raise their family.
They have two daughters, and two darling granddaughters. The family wanted to make the anniversary extra special and decorated the homes’ conservatory with balloons and precious memories of the couples big day, and all they have achieved together over the years.

On their wedding day in Holme, the couple celebrated with a chicken and chip supper, which, after the party the home helped recreated with a romantic candlelit table for two!

The General Manager at Claremont Parkway said: “It’s so wonderful to see two people still very much in love after all these years. We felt very privileged to be a part of the golden couples celebrations and hope everyone had the best of days, making more happy memories together.”

African Drumming Delights

At Claremont Parkway we love hosting events that we can open up to our relatives, friends and the wider community. Life here is about being part of the local community and enjoying life long hobbies whilst also exploring new experiences.

Last week, in recognition of Black History Month we enjoyed a session from the African Drumming sensation; Liz and Devinder at In2Cultures

The group visited our home with an amazing array of instruments to run an African music and dance class with our residents. We had such fun listening to the rhythm of the drums, chanting and dancing along to the songs.

Thank you both for sharing your knowledge and passion with us.

Happy Birthday 'Phyllis'

Everyone at Claremont wished a Happy Birthday to our lovely resident Phyllis, who certainly enjoyed her special day. Phyllis was very surprised to receive a delicious homemade cake, decorated by our home chefs. Phyllis was presented her cake from team, family members and other residents while singing Happy Birthday. Phyllis was full of happiness and loved the whole occasion.
