Activities at Claremont Parkway Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Pebble Artistry

Pebbles are a fantastic medium for art, tactile and smooth in different colours and sizes. Our residents had fun creating their own personal pebble collage pictures. Peter choose an expression of 'love whilst Bronwen went for a 'smiling face'. We had trees and even Stonehenge as part of the final gallery.

Michelle's Menagerie of Pets

Our residents adore all kinds of animals and that's exactly what we get when Michelle's Animal Therapy & Petting Party visits our home. From a pampered pussy cat to happy hen, bearded dragon and tiny tortoise! Michelle's menagerie of petting animals are the perrrfect recipe for an afternoon of cuddles and snuggles. Thank you Michelle for making our day.

As one of the foundations of our Life Enrichment program, we know that animal therapy can help reduce blood pressure and improve overall cardiovascular health. The Activities Team organise regular pet therapy sessions at Claremont Parkway many of which are open to the local community. Please keep an eye out for our next event poster and pop along for some furry-friend fun!

Early Autumn Fall Arts & Crafts

As the wind blow through the Claremont Parkway gardens our activities team were out collecting leaves of different shapes and sizes to use within this week’s arts and crafts session.

Whilst listening to Il Divo our residents used PVA glue and fine sand to create beautiful leaf silhouettes. They spoke about the various types of tree and brushes they thought the leaves had come from, and the ones they remember from younger days walking through local parks.

Magic and Mischief!

Hosting events for friends and family members to join us is an essential part of our activities program and we are always looking for new ideas to bring the wider community into our home.

On Monday we were entertained by the marvellous magician Steve Dimmer who was full of mischief and magical tricks that had us all fully engaged. Our residents and guests enjoyed an afternoon full of laughter, it was lovely to see the great grandchildren of our resident Ambassador Mary; Amelie and Charlie completely spellbound by Steve's wizardry!

Crafting a Flower Collage

Monday's Arts & Crafts saw our residents create a beautiful flower collage. They enjoyed selecting the images and placing them to make up the finished artwork. Working together on such a project gave them time to reminisce about the gardens they used to have, and what type of flowers are their favourites. Art can help improve well-being, confidence and self-esteem.
