Activities at Claremont Parkway Care Home

At the end of 2025 we celebrated the last birthday of the year, a 90th birthday celebration for a lovely resident who had many of her family around to help celebrate with her on this very special occasion.

The wonderful photos below captured our residents surprise moments of receiving a delicious cake made by the homes head chef.

On Sunday we welcomed back to Claremont Parkway Care Home, Pauline who filled the home with the soft flowing music of her harp as well her beautiful singing.

As familiar melodies drifted through the room, faces lit up with smiles and moments of quiet reflection.

Pauline sang and played songs that the residents requested such as Danny Boy, Isle of Skye, All Around My Hat as well as some of Pauline's favourites from the Sound of Music and the Wizard of Oz and finished the afternoon by playing some lovely Christmas Carols making the time fly by and the residents having a great time singing and swaying to the music.

Resident Mari was treated to a musical performance on the keyboard from her Grandson Daniel Waterfield who asked if he could come in and play for his Nanna and that he would happily play for other residents as well.

Not only was Mari delighted with her Grandson playing, her friends at the home were too as Daniel played tunes such as I'm still standing, Don't Stop Me Now, We Are the Champions, White Christmas, Blue Moon, Thank you for the Music and many more to have us singing along and clapping, Mari also got up and had a dance. 

A truly special afternoon.

Rise and shine birthday boy!

This week we celebrated the birthday of Ashley who had a lovely day and he was delighted to be presented with a cake and a rendition of Happy Birthday by some of our wonderful carers and made by our super chef Jorge.

At Claremont Parkway we celebrate birthdays not just as a mark of ageing another year but as a celebration of life, achievements, and personal growth. It's a time for reflection, gratitude, and looking forward to future possibilities. Birthdays provide a special opportunity for us to help residents to gather with loved ones and create lasting memories. 


 

Thursday afternoon we a enjoyed a super afternoon of entertainment by the talented Joshua Daniel who entertained our residents with a selection of Christmas Songs and old time classics. Residents tapped their feet, clapped their hands and sang along to the songs, an enjoyable afternoon was had by all.

Christmas Day was a special occasion filled with warmth and togetherness. Families and friends visited and so did Santa bringing joy to residents faces with gifts.

Everyone enjoyed a festive meal, followed by watching the King's Speech. The day was finished with mince pies, chocolate cup cakes, a festive game and a chat on the days festivities.

It was glitzy tops all round at Claremont Parkway on Christmas Jumper Day.

Our residents and colleagues were encouraged to dress to impress in their most festive jumpers to add a little sparkle to the day.

Well done Head Chef; Jorge for being nominated as our employee of the month for November. Jorge who is dedicated to his role and work tirelessly to ensure that all the residents individual care needs are met will also go above and beyond and take the time to specialise the meals and menus requested. 

Jorge also provides amazing cakes for the home visitors and residents along with ensuring that all the events have scrumptious treats. Nico, Deputy Manager presented Jorge with flowers and chocolates to say a huge well done and thank you from all the homes residents and staff.

Tuesday afternoon we started our Christmas Cheer by welcoming the Wellingborough Salvation Army to our beautiful home who entertained us with musical renditions of Christmas Carols which had our residents singing along.

It was an extra special treat for our resident Vera as along with her husband they had a very strong connection with the group and some of the players remembered her and they had a look back over some photos she had in her room.

Monday was full of fun with the resident's Christmas Party. The dining room was all set for the party mood and residents enjoyed a nice meal prepared by our wonderful chef Jorge.

After lunch we were entertained by the talented Steve Jay who sang a lovely selection of Christmas favourites and carols, we also had a surprise visit from Santa himself.

Claremont was filled yesterday afternoon with the beautiful voices of the Trinity Singers, a community choir based in Desborough. 

It was a truly magical afternoon at the home, listening to a selection of Christmas carols and songs such as White Christmas, A Holly Jolly Christmas, Jingle Bells, 30-second Merry Christmas and many more, which brought joy to all the residents who were listening and joining in with the songs that they knew. Residents were joined by family members, who are always welcome to be with their loved ones for the live entertainment within the home.

The Trinity Singers were also glad to be back at Claremont Parkway as they come to perform for the residents each Christmas time to bring love and pure delight to the residents at this very special time in the year.

Residents started their week with a lovely afternoon by the talented Dean Jones who sang a variety of songs to keep us all singing along and moving to the music.

Not only did Dean sing a range of Christmas Classics such as Jingle Bells and Winter Wonderland we had same all time favourites such as Sweet Caroline to get us all singing along.

Live entertainment brings great joy to our residents along with a sense of togetherness within the home.

Resident involvement in choosing genres along with feedback after each performance means that we are able to constantly improve our activities calendar.

At Claremont Parkway our residents love to help and this week was no exception when Santa's Helpers joined in and helped get the home ready for Christmas.

With Carols playing in the background several of our residents helped decorate trees in our lovely communal areas, reminiscing about times they put decorations up at home with their own families over the years and the different traditions that they had.
