Activities at Chater Lodge Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life. We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Maria Durrant
Hello. I am Maria and I have lived in Ketton for most of my life. I worked at the local primary school before joining Chater Lodge in 2019.
My first role here was as a Dining Host and have now found my passion in creating an interesting and inclusive programme of activities for all our residents.
I like having fun with residents, dressing up, singing songs and celebrating special events. I love being a part of the team here and my career change to Activities Coordinator is the best thing I have ever done.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Cowboy Ho down
Yee Haw Cowboys and girl’s !
We had a sensational themed day together. In the morning we loved having locals join us for our coffee morning listening to Dolly Parton and wearing cowboy hats. We were thrilled that several of Age concern ladies and gents joined us for coffee and cake.
In the afternoon our themed fun continued with live musical entertainment from the amazing KJ & The Cat.
We took to the dance floor in our cowboy boots and were singing and clapping along. Tony, head of Maintenance, was superb on the mic!
A huge thank you to everyone who joined us especially the staff for making it a day to remember!

Pimms on the patio
Residents have been making the most of the sunshine as we came together to enjoy a scrumptious summer delight, Pimm’s!
We enjoyed our refreshing beverage with all the trimmings, mint from the garden and fresh lemons and strawberries.
For a few of our resident’s this was their first time trying this classic British summer treat! And were sure this won’t be the last time after discovering Pimms.

Homes join 100th virtual event
Barchester care homes and hospitals nationwide linked together for a fantastic quiz in celebration of Barchester’s 100th live virtual event.
Residents engaged in a variety of questions ranging from historical trivia to visual puzzles and brainteasers.
Everyone who joined had a fantastic time and enjoyed some friendly competition.

Independence day of America
We celebrated 4th of July in true American Style. Our home was decorated with themed flags and we hosted a party with word games and quizzes and to top it all off, we gathered together to be entertained by an Elvis Presley impersonator, we enjoyed listening to some of his all-time favourite hits.
It was a great day, enjoyed by all.

World Chocolate Day
Residents indulged themselves in every thing chocolate as we celebrated World Chocolate Day.
World Chocolate Day is celebrated every year on July 7th, honouring the introduction of chocolate to Europe in the 16th century. This day is a global celebration of chocolate in all its forms, from dark to milk, bars to truffles and everything in between. A very indulgent day had by all.
