Activities at Chater Lodge Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Maria Durrant

Activities Coordinator

Hello. I am Maria and I have lived in Ketton for most of my life. I worked at the local primary school before joining Chater Lodge in 2019. My first role here was as a Dining Host and have now found my passion in creating an interesting and inclusive programme of activities for all our residents. I like having fun with residents, dressing up, singing songs and celebrating special events. I love being a part of the team here and my career change to Activities Coordinator is the best thing I have ever done.

Chater Lodge Welcomes Local Police Officer

Residents and members of the wider community at the Chater Lodge Care Home in Ketton came together as we warmly welcomed PC Rebecca Angel into our home.

PC Angel spoke to our residents at great length about her time in the police force, the daily routines she faces and news from the wider community before taking questions from her audience.

Residents and members of the community were fascinated as PC Angel gave them a run through of her force equipment and also treated the audience to a look inside the police van, complete with siren demonstration. Much to every ones delight.

Home host Art Exhibition

Chater Lodge Care Home in Ketton celebrated local creative artistic talent by holding an art exhibition on Friday 16th June

The exhibition was inspired by the amazing paintings of well-known artist Mathew Cutforth, who also works at the home, and included a range of his most recent pieces.

Happy Father's Day

At the Chater Lodge Care Home we marked Father’s Day in style with a special lunch in honour of all fathers, featuring gifts and tokens of love for the gentlemen in our home.

Our Gentlemen met their loved ones in the garden, others enjoyed video calls with their family and friends, and we all took part in various activities, such as writing letters and cards, and playing themed games and quizzes.

Residents have a hoot with birds of prey

Chater Lodge care home, in Ketton, Rutland, was full of hoots on Monday 12th June when a kettle of birds of prey came to visit the home.

Residents at Chater Lodge were pleasantly surprised to see their new feathered friends up close and personal in their garden as Rutland Outdoor Pursuits paid a visit. Rutland Outdoor Pursuits brought 20 years of experience with their visit as they look after a wide range of birds of prey including eagles, falcons, owls, and hawks.

Cocktail Day

Chater Lodge hosted it’s very own Cocktail Day as a celebration of cocktails,  We invited our residents, family members and friends to try something new, and perhaps a little exotic.

Whether you’re a tequila fan, a whisky lover, a gin aficionado or you just like to mix it up and try something new, our Cocktail Day has something for everyone. It was certainly a day of fun-filled tastings for the staff and residents at the Chater Lodge Care Home in Ketton, Stamford.

To mark the day, residents had so much fun taking part in a cocktail tasting masterclass led by our wonderful home host, Matt, finding out about the history of cocktail making and trying their hand at coming up with new cocktails themselves.

Come Fly With Me

Staff and residents at Barchester’s Chater Lodge Care Home in Ketton, England were treated to an hour in the company of Community Engagement Manager, Rhiannon Watkinson, from the RAF Museum in Hendon, London.  Coinciding with the anniversary of the D Day landings on 6th June 1944, residents joined Rhiannon for an interactive talk about historic Hendon exploring its exciting and innovative aviation history. They heard about the first flights from the fields at Hendon, the creation of the London Aerodrome and all about Battle of Britain pilots who flew from RAF Hendon. The talk included fascinating photographic and film material from the Museum’s archive and a chance for residents to share their stories and ask questions.
