Activities at Chalfont Lodge Care Home

Chalfont Lodge is a large care home and we have a diverse range of groups and events to ensure that everyone feels welcome and included. In the Lifestyle team we work hard to create a sense of community and ensure there is always someone to talk to and something to do.

Our residents help us to plan the monthly lifestyle programme, making sure that everyone has something they like, enabling people to keep up with life long hobbies or pick up new ones. We have long term projects like our summer parties, car shows, BBQs, craft fairs, Christmas shows to mention a few and residents can be as involved as they would like in all stages of the planning or just come along and enjoy on the day.

We love going out on trips, to lunch, shopping or to socialise with other local groups, we also have many people who come into visit us with church services, music, talks and support for our bigger events.

We have a fantastic team of staff and every department is involved in making sure our residents get the most out of living here. We have a brilliant music therapist who works her magic 3 days a week, running group and individual sessions. Our Physiotherapy team keep everyone fit and active, working with us to make sure everyone has access to sports and team games.

We have a full programme groups, events and clubs but none of it would be possible without our residents and their families, we all work together to make this a home from home and to keep laughter and friendship at the heart of what we do.

Christmas Cookies

We all had fun decorating some delicious homemade shortbread. We have stars, snowflakes and Christmas tree biscuits, all made by our lovely Chefs! What do you think of our creations?

Christmas Bake Off

Chalfont Lodge got in the Christmas spirit by having a Christmas cake competition for its residents.

Chalfont’s Christmas Bake-Off was in full swing with Christmas music, playing around the room everyone decorated their cakes. Residents also enjoyed a feast of festive foods, all prepared by the Head Chefm Greg Gadziala.

We always Remember the 5th of November

Once again Chalfont Lodge celebrated Bonfire Night with a bang!

In the morning we all had fun and created our Guys and reminisced about how we used to make them as children.

We had a hearty supper of burgers, hotdogs and chilli con carne in jacket potatoes to warm us up before heading outside into the cold.

Dressed in our hats and scarfs the home oo’d and ahhh’d at all of the beautiful lights.

We would like to thank our Maintenance team who did a fantastic job of creating us a spectacular fireworks display!

Until next year Bonfire night!

Barchester Care Awards Nominee’s

The Management and Directors of Barchester Healthcare would like to thank all our wonderful Chalfont Lodge nominees for the Barchester Care Awards.

Our MD (South Division) Natasha Lazovic showed her care and support by visiting Chalfont Lodge to personally praise the team herself as well as sending each nominee a letter of congratulations.

The home celebrated with a party and all nominees were given their certificates.

We would like to say a massive well done to everyone who got nominated for the Barchester Care Awards!

Life Enrichment at Barchester

The fun and laughter has continued at Chalfont Lodge care home, in Buckinghamshire as residents recently enjoyed trying autumnal flower arranging in pumpkins.

Residents at Chalfont Lodge have enjoyed our engaging activities programmes consisting of music performances from their Music Therapist, wheelchair exercise classes with the Physiotherapy Department, games of skittles, pamper days, tea parties and cake making classes arranged by the homes’ activities team for residents within the home and local community groups.

The activities coordinators Alex, Louise and Sally support the personal interests of residents so they can continue with their individual hobbies in an effort to celebrate life as often as we can. All group and individual activities offer a choice of mental, physical and spiritual activities of people we care for.

Residents have taken part in knitting, annual sports day, gardening, debate club, tea parties, still life art classes and the Barchester Care Awards. These types of activities are meaningful to residents, and provide social engagement, as well as creating a lot of fun within the home.

Raj Boodhoo, General Manager at Chalfont Lodge Care Home said: “Ensuring residents feel engaged and connected within our homes is more important than ever. Our residents have really enjoyed Autumnal flower arranging. We provide a wide range of activities at Chalfont Lodge home as part of the life enrichment programme for residents, and this one was very popular!

Our varied activities programme allows us to provide stimulation of the mind, body and soul for residents in group activities, as well as one-to-one. We have also adapted ways to keep residents active, whilst ensuring that the group activities are smaller, adhering to current government social distancing advice”

Bewitching tricks and spooky treats

Residents and staff got in to the spirit of things with spooky themed exercise programme, pumpkin & flower decorating and a horrifying Halloween party! The week was filled with sweets and smiles, spooky cakes and terrifying chocolate apples.

General Manager, Raj Boodhoo cackled: “Our residents and staff love an opportunity to dress up and what better time of the year to do this than Halloween? We’ve had a whole range of tricks and treats for the residents and we have all really enjoyed every moment of it!”

Val Skrastins, resident at Chalfont Lodge said: “It has been a fun week. It was wonderful to see everyone go to so much effort to get into the Halloween spirit. I really enjoyed dressing up and giving out all the sweets to everyone. One of the nurses dressed up as a witch and looked very realistic! ”
