Activities at Caldy Manor Care Home

Our Activities Coordinators work together to provide daily activities suited to the tastes of residents. We encourage those we support to continue with any hobbies whilst they stay at home. We also hold group activities, such as exercise to music, sing-alongs, craft sessions and visits to local places of interest. There are also evening events, including cheese & wine evenings and race nights. We keep families up-to-date through our newsletter and notices that can be found across the home. Family and friends are always welcome to join in!

Hi my name is Steph and I am Lead Activities here at Caldy Manor. As an Activities Coordinator I focus on encouraging our residents to take part in outdoor trips on the mini bus, delivering varied exercise classes and assisting residents with their chosen activities as part of our homes life enrichment plan. It is important that we continue to ensure our residents are connected to their local community.

Residents join virtual Care Awards

Hannah Roberts, General Manager at Caldy Manor has recently been awarded Customer Care Champion – North Divisional Winner in the Barchester Awards 2020.

Staff, families and residents have congratulated Hannah on her achievement. Everyone at Caldy Manor is very proud of Hannah and all the hard work she has done to promote the highest standards of customer care at Caldy Manor.

Harvest fun for Residents

Residents of Caldy Manor really enjoyed working as a team on their salt dough decorations for the Barchester Harvest Festival Competition.  Resident,  Irene worked hard on preparing the dough for other residents to create the decorations.

They then spent the afternoon creating decorations to paint for their Harvest display. Everyone shared their memories of past Harvest festivals at school.

'Latte' fun for Residents at Macmillan Coffee Morning

Staff and residents at Caldy manor in Wirral held a charity coffee morning on 25th September to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Having a Coffee Morning is the perfect chance to catch up over a cuppa and a slice of something delicious for a great cause. In 2019, an incredible £27.5 million was raised and Macmillan are aiming to top that this year. The money raised at our Coffee Morning will help everyone with cancer to live life as fully as they can.

Residents enjoyed activities with their friends within the home and staff.  Sheena Elder, resident at Caldy Manor won a bottle of Prosecco for guessing the number of sprinkles on the top of Colin the caterpillar cake. Residents enjoyed a morning together listening to music and playing games

Caldy Manor’s coffee morning was a big success - they managed to raise £50.00 and most importantly, everyone had a lot of fun doing it!

1 letter, 1 smile brings joy to Residents

Residents at Caldy Manor care home, in Caldy recently registered for the 1 Letter 1 Smile scheme to receive letters from young people all over the world who wanted to write to lonely or isolated older people during the lockdown.

Residents at the home have received 80 letters from teenagers and young adults from all over the world. The residents have enjoyed spending afternoons together reading their letters and sharing their stories. We plan to reply to all the letters,

The 1 letter 1 smile imitative comes from 10 cousins, aged from 14 to 24, students or schooled in Lille, Paris, The Hague, Lausanne, Montreal. From engineers to comedians, salespeople to fans of literature, they all became postmen to spread your words of love.

1, 275 care homes are registered so that their isolated residents following COVID 19 can receive your letters in England, Canada, France, Belgium, The USA, Luxembourg and Switzerland.

Residents place their bets!

Residents enjoyed a themed evening at the ‘Caldy Manor Casino’.   Residents made their grand entrance in to the ‘casino’ through a golden curtain wearing their finest attire for a fun filled evening. 

Residents spent their dollars on chips to gamble at the roulette table which was the chose game for the evening. Placing their bets was very exciting and Resident, Barbara was the only one to take home winnings!  Barbara was pictured proudly holding her cash.

Captain's cocktail party

Residents of Caldy Manor have enjoyed a week of virtual travels from the comfort of their own home aboard 'Caldy Cruises'.   Once settled in to their places on board guests gathered for a welcome cocktail party with the Captain.  It was a wonderful afternoon as they sung and danced together and enjoying a cocktail or two!   Snacks were served as they waved goodbye to crowds on the dockside as they set sail for they adventure on the high seas visiting as many places as they can over the coming weeks!

They will be enjoying lots of activities to keep them busy on days when they are at sea. Where will they be next?

Coffee Morning - Every Friday from 11.00 am

We extend a warm invitation for you to join us as we host our monthly coffee morning, make new friends and take a tour of our home. All welcome.

We know mealtimes can often be a lonely time for our older members of our local community, come and enjoy a nutritious meal and make new friends. Places are limited.
