Activities at Caldy Manor Care Home

Our Activities Coordinators work together to provide daily activities suited to the tastes of residents. We encourage those we support to continue with any hobbies whilst they stay at home. We also hold group activities, such as exercise to music, sing-alongs, craft sessions and visits to local places of interest. There are also evening events, including cheese & wine evenings and race nights. We keep families up-to-date through our newsletter and notices that can be found across the home. Family and friends are always welcome to join in!

Life at Caldy Manor Care Home

Residents support local charity

Residents have been supporting  sick and injured animals at our local rescue centre. They have been supporting a local Animal Rescue charity, by collecting donations of food, newspapers, food bowls and bin bags . They have also been busy knitting and selling hedgehogs to raise funds for the charity close to their heart. Residents are hoping to visit as soon as they can do safely to see the animals.

Hamper's for Women

Residents at Caldy Manor in Wirral marked International Women’s Day (IWD) on March 8th by spending the day celebrating the achievements of wonderful trail-blazing women throughout history.

IWD takes place on March 8 every year to celebrate women’s rights and inspire people to fight for gender equality.  A United Nations-sanctioned global holiday, IWD celebrates women’s contributions to society, raises awareness about the fight for gender parity and inspires support for organisations that support women globally.

Residents and staff donated toiletries, make up and perfume to add to hampers to be delivered to Tomorrow’s Women in Birkenhead. Residents learnt about the wonderful work the charity does and watched some of their online celebrations during the day.

Debbie Thomas, Activities Manager at Caldy manor said: “We’ve all had a really interesting day thinking about the very many amazing women who have had such an impact on our lives, whether that was an historic figure or people in our own family.  It was good to share our experiences, take stock and reflect on how much society has changed over the years. Residents were really supportive of the work done by Tomorrow’s Women and really enjoyed making the hampers, knowing they would make such a difference to local women.”

Residents complete knit-athon for charity

Staff and residents at Caldy Manor Care Home in Caldy have taken part in a sponsored Knit–athon to raise money for Versus Arthritis.

Residents have spent the day knitting and selling hand-made items to raise money for this wonderful cause close to their hearts. Residents chatted about the knitting they did for their families in the past. You never forget how to knit and residents soon got back into it.

Residents and staff were all very supportive and were there to cheer on the participants as they began the fundraising challenge.

Chinese New Year

Caldy Manor residents exchanged Chinese Red Envelopes containing chocolate coins. We had a lovely Chinese banquet for lunch and made Year of The Ox hats which made us all smile! We watched a Chinese Dragon Dance and listened to Chinese music.
