Activities at Bushey House Beaumont Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Tina Stovey

Activities Lead /Diversity Champion

I started working at Bushey House Beaumont in 2022 in an activities role that I absolutely love. There are very few jobs that offer the daily satisfaction and fulfilment that mine does. I am delighted to be able to play my part in helping to bring joy and laughter into our residents’ daily lives and offer them an interesting choice of events to do just that.

Life at Bushey House Beaumont Care Home

Celebratory Mother's Day Tea

Residents, families and friends enjoyed a delicious Mother’s Day afternoon tea prepared by our Chef Shaun.

Accompanying the tea was vocalist Steve Forward who had everyone singing along to their favourite tunes, bringing a lovely, fun atmosphere to the home.

Resident Doreen said “It was lovely to spend the afternoon with my children and grandchildren enjoying good food and music, I really enjoyed it.” With the number of compliments we received, thanks must also go to our activities superstar, Tina.

Clothing sale at Bushey House Beaumont

Bushey House residents had a visit from a mobile fashion wholesaler, with the opportunity to buy some clothing from their latest spring collection. Resident Barbara treated herself to some new spring pieces and said “It was so lovely to have a clothing shop come in to us, I had a great time shopping.”

The event was a big success and they will be coming back to see us soon with their summer collection.

The sun is out in Bushey

Spring has finally arrived at Bushey House Beaumont. Our beautiful, extensive grounds with views towards the lake have been bathed in sunlight this morning. Not long we hope till our residents and visitors are out on the terrace enjoying the sunshine.

Jeffrey the Cockatiel proves to be a big hit with the ladies

Jeffrey the Cockatiel paid a visit to Bushey House Beaumont Care Home in Bushey this week. He was joined by several of his budgie friends, who delighted residents and staff with their impeccable behaviour as they toured the home. Jeffrey was a particular hit, with his love of sitting on residents shoulders and nuzzling up for an embrace.

Activities Coordinator Tina Stovey said “Our residents have really enjoyed their avian visitors today. We are always looking for new activities for our residents and today we have seen fun, enjoyment and the therapeutic influence animals can have on people.”

A fabulous afternoon at Bushey House Beaumont

Residents and guests enjoyed an afternoon tea of delicious sandwiches cakes and scones accompanied by freshly brewed tea and coffee, whilst being entertained by vocalists James and Eloise who performed songs from our favourite musicals . We share our afternoon tea with members of the local community on a monthly basis and our next event is on the 31st of March. If you would like to join us please call us for further information.

Meet our latest Volunteer

We were joined last week by Watford A'level student Anika, who spent the day with helping out with activities and meeting our lovely residents. Anika is hoping to study medicine at university and wanted to experience how daily life operates in a nursing home. Anika enjoyed her time with us so much that she is now going to sign up to be a volunteer here in her school holidays.
