Activities at Bushey House Beaumont Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Tina Stovey

Activities Lead /Diversity Champion

I started working at Bushey House Beaumont in 2022 in an activities role that I absolutely love. There are very few jobs that offer the daily satisfaction and fulfilment that mine does. I am delighted to be able to play my part in helping to bring joy and laughter into our residents’ daily lives and offer them an interesting choice of events to do just that.

Exciting sponsorship news

We are so excited to announce that we are co-sponsors for this year’s Bushey Festival.

The Festival is the highlight of the Bushey social calendar with numerous events running throughout this period and culminating in a large music festival and fun day on Sunday 9th July.

Bushey House Beaumont Care Home will be hosting the opening event, with a garden party on Friday 30th June from 2 to 5pm. More details to follow.

Easter egg hunt at St Hildas School

Our local primary school St Hildas enjoyed an Easter Barchester bunny hunt.

As part of our local community engagement, 50 Barchester bunnies were hidden around the school and the pupils from four year groups had great fun looking for them. The teachers got involved too, preparing a Barchester bunny with an Easter message on to take home to all their families.

A presentation was made with resident Margot donating a beautiful hamper full of Easter treats to School Head, Mr Cane to share with all the pupils.

Bushey Quiz Master Martin

Meet our Bushey House Beaumont Quiz Master, Martin.

Martin is one of our Assisted Living residents and he kindly gives up his own time every Wednesday to host a quiz for our residents. He is holding the new, golden microphone that was recently purchased which adds a little showbiz style to his very popular quizzes.

Lucy the lamb makes a visit

Lucy the lamb paid a visit to Bushey House Beaumont.

She was sadly orphaned and for the first 3 weeks of her life has been hand reared by staff at Performing Pets. She was a little ‘sheepish’ when she first arrived, but was soon loving all the cuddles and strokes from the residents and staff.

We are very lucky to have monthly visits from this wonderful farm and is one of the highlights of our activity calendar.

Delicious food at Bushey House Beaumont

How beautiful is this dish made by our Head Chef Avni? Bushey House Beaumont is lucky to have an award winning chef in our kitchen, who along with his great team make freshly made, nutritious dishes every day. His presentation skills are so good that once a week he trains other Barchester chefs in our Barchester training academy in London.

Ex ballerina visits local school

One of our Residents at Bushey House Beaumont was invited to St Hilda’s school in Bushey last week to watch a ballet recital.

Margot was herself once a professional ballerina and danced in the same ballet group as world famous ballerina Margot Fonteyn.

She was introduced to the audience and delighted them with tales of dancing all over the world. She and Margot Fonteyn were great friends and shared stories on how they constantly got confused who was being told off, as they both shared the same name.

Margot said “I had a lovely afternoon watching the girl’s dance, all of whom are very talented and I do hope some will go onto study ballet as I did.”

Bushey House Beaumont has strong community links with St Hilda’s School, where multi-generational visits delight both pupils and residents.
