Activities at Bluebell Park Care Home
Here at Bluebell Park our aim is to enrich the lives of our residents, through group, and individual activities.
We have a wide range of activities designed to mentally, and physically stimulate the people we care for, including regular trips out in the mini bus, and taking part in the community led events that happen in the village we live in. We hold monthly resident meetings so our planning reflects their wishes, and requests, for example we now hold a regular bingo club (which residents families love to attend) and a bowling afternoon which the gentlemen here particularly enjoy. Entertainers and musicians regularly come into the home and families and friends are always welcome to attend too.
Activities are one of the most important aspects of our care home, and we strive to have a full range on offer. Our team here at Bluebell are dedicated to ensuring our residents enjoy, and get as much out of our entertainment as possible. It is without a doubt our mission is to make sure that life at Bluebell is active, fun, and most of all happy.

Life at Bluebell Park Care Home
Home recognise Housekeeping team
Residents and staff celebrated International Housekeepers Week from September 13-19, 2020. Every year this week represents a special opportunity to acknowledge the outstanding efforts of the homes housekeeping team and thank them for a job well done.
National Fish & Chip Day
Residents at Bluebell Park enjoyed the iconic dish of Fish and Chips, with a range of activities on FRYDAY 4th September.
National Fish and Chip day has returned for the 5th year running with the popular dish being served daily in fish & chip shops, pubs, restaurants, and hotels, by the fishermen and farmers who provide the sustainable and natural ingredients used to create it. On this day the nation will be enjoying this iconic family favourite which is traditionally eaten on a Friday.
National Dog Day
Staff and residents at Barchester’s Bluebell Park Care Home enjoyed a litter of pupsicles and celebrate their furry friends on National Dog Day that took place on Wednesday 26th August.
This day was founded by author and animal behaviourist, Colleen Paige in 2004. She invented this observational holiday to not only show appreciation for dogs, but to bring attention to the plight of abused dogs, to end puppy mills and to bring an end to breed-specific legislation that regulates, or outright bans, certain breeds in the hope of minimizing dog attacks.
World Photography Day
On 19th August photography lovers across the globe will be celebrating World Photo Day. The main aim of World Photo Day is to inspire positive change across the world. Connecting people and raising awareness through the use of photography.
Founded in 2009 by the Australian photographer Korske Ara, the date of the 19th August was chosen to celebrate World Photo Day as it is the date that the French government purchased the patent of the daguerreotype (an early method of photography). The date also coincides with World Humanitarian Day.
Rachel Smith General Manager said: “We are continually adapting, and finding new ways to make sure every effort is focused on life enrichment opportunities for all of our residents. World Photography Day was a great opportunity for residents and staff to reflect on past experiences by looking at treasured photographs. A photograph has the ability to capture a place; an experience; an idea; a moment in time. A picture really is worth a thousand words, and photographs play a large part in reminiscence for residents with dementia.”
Fun in the sun
Residents enjoy traditional games afternoon at Bluebell Park. Residents at Bluebell Park embraced their competitive sides as they enjoyed a traditional games afternoon together, taking advantage of the warm summer weather they took to the homes beautiful garden for a game of bowls before sitting back to enjoy a refreshing cup of tea and a slice of homemade cake.
