Activities at Bluebell Park Care Home

Here at Bluebell Park our aim is to enrich the lives of our residents, through group, and individual activities.

We have a wide range of activities designed to mentally, and physically stimulate the people we care for, including regular trips out in the mini bus, and taking part in the community led events that happen in the village we live in. We hold monthly resident meetings so our planning reflects their wishes, and requests, for example we now hold a regular bingo club (which residents families love to attend) and a bowling afternoon which the gentlemen here particularly enjoy. Entertainers and musicians regularly come into the home and families and friends are always welcome to attend too.

Activities are one of the most important aspects of our care home, and we strive to have a full range on offer. Our team here at Bluebell are dedicated to ensuring our residents enjoy, and get as much out of our entertainment as possible. It is without a doubt our mission is to make sure that life at Bluebell is active, fun, and most of all happy.

Life at Bluebell Park Care Home

Festival of light celebrations

Residents and staff at Bluebell Park celebrated Diwali, the festival of lights. They had a delicious lunch menu with Indian spiced food, followed by traditional Asian instrumental music and Indian sweets.

Spooky treats delivered to local nursery

Barchester’s Bluebell Park was a den of ghoulish activity as the home’s spooky Halloween party got in to full swing.  Staff, residents and guests got in to the spirit of things with fancy dress and delivering sweet treats to local nursery, Scallywags opposite the home.

General Manager, Rachel Smith cackled: “Our residents and staff love an opportunity to dress up and what better time of the year to do this than Halloween? We’ve had a whole range of tricks and treats for the people that live here and we have all really enjoyed every moment of it!”

10-year Long Service

Teresa Dyer, Senior Carer at Bluebell Park has recently been awarded with her 10 Year Long Service Award,  and the home would like to thank Teresa for her commitment, dedication and hard work at Bluebell Park during this time.

Residents get creative with socks

Residents from Bluebell Park often get together to enjoy their regular art and craft sessions which supports their creative ideas and encourages different methods of Art. Residents have been busy showing their own style of colourful socks designs to create ‘rabbit socks’

This class is particularly popular with all and everyone thoroughly enjoys a get together with a cuppa and a slice of delicious cake.   Residents enjoy the colouring and crafting as find it very calming and therapeutic. It enhances mindfulness and promotes a positive mental well-being.

Harvest fun for Residents

Residents and staff at Bluebell Park have been busy putting their Harvest Festival display together, with lots of painting, collage work, gluing and, of course, a variety of salt dough crafts!  Residents were proud of their finished results.

Home wear it green for Macmillan

Staff and residents at Bluebell Park held a charity coffee morning on Friday 25th September to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Bluebell’s coffee morning was a big success – they had fun dressing brightly in green to raise funds for this worthy cause with a ‘mini’ raffle and everyone had a lot of fun doing it!

The British charity provides financial aid, specialist healthcare services, and all different kinds of support to those living with cancer. The purpose of the coffee morning is to sit down with your friends and family and catch up with a nice cuppa for a good cause. The money raised will help Macmillan make sure no one has to face cancer alone.
