Activities at Beeston View Memory Lane Community

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Luisa Painemilla

Activities Coordinator

Hi there, I'm Luisa, Activities Co-ordinator at Iddenshall Hall.

I have worked with the elderly over 8 years and also for fifteen years in the social field as an Activities Coordinator for different social groups in three countries. I have a Degree in Social Integration, a Certificate in Theatrical Psychology and a Music Therapy certificate. In the past I have worked for local authorities and in a cerebral palsy home.

My work is very rewarding and it is a pleasure planning events and activities each month. I enjoy interacting with Residents and learning about their interests, preferences and experiences.

Look out for our activities and events - you are welcome to join us!

Twinkletoes Unite!

Twinkletoes Unite!

We have been having some music and dancing sessions with Beeston View residents recently - they really enjoy the music and singing along. We have encouraged them to play their own instruments too, which they really enjoy.

Empathy Dolls

Empathy Dolls

We have been using our empathy dolls at Beeston View and the residents have really taken to them. They treat them just like real babies and they seem to bring out the maternal and paternal instincts in all of them. Money well spent!

Preparing for the Festive Season

Preparing for the Festive Season

We have started making Christmas cards this week, in preparation for the upcoming festive season.

It has been a great chance for residents to show their creative sides. We provided coloured cards, pom poms, pens/pencils/chalks, glue, ribbon and coloured pipe cleaners, so that residents could make up their own designs, which we have proudly displayed in the home for everyone to see.

Farewell, Gill!

Farewell, Gill!

Gill has been our Receptionist here at Beeston View for the past 2 and a half years, and she will be missed greatly by everyone who worked with her. She is moving onwards to new pastures, including a 2 month stop in Australia to stay with her daughter, before settling in Poole. She has promised to stay in touch and come and visit for coffee before she leaves in mid-December.

Musical Session

Musical Session

We held a Musical Session this month with residents from Beeston View. One resident played the piano for us all and we sang and danced along to the lovely music.

Some of the residents played instruments, including the drum, tambourine, maracas and bells. We also played some party tunes that everyone knew the words to so we could all join in. It was a fun and enjoyable afternoon.

Grandparents Day Celebrations

Grandparents Day Celebrations

We were invited to attend a Grandparents Day celebration in our local village this week. Tarvin Pre-School sent us an invitation to join them at Tarvin Community Centre for the afternoon. Residents were able to socialise with the children and their grandparents whilst enjoying tea, coffee and cakes made by the kids.

It was a lovely opportunity for residents to meet some new faces and to enjoy watching the children play and have fun.

Thank you Tarvin Pre-School for thinking of us and sharing your special day.
