Activities at Ashfields Care Home

At Ashfields, we strive to make our care and services as person-centred as we possibly can, and this includes our provision of activities. We will give prospective residents a 'Getting to Know Me' booklet to fill out with their loved ones before their arrival, which includes a little life history and a tick sheet for a vast amount of activities. This enables us to offer bespoke activities and helps us to learn valuable information about residents and what might stimulate them in conversations and trips.

Our specialist activities and lifestyle staff make sure there are always meaningful activities to take part in, such as gardening, baking and trips out to various locations nearby, including local cathedrals, cafés, garden centres and much more.

Residents are encouraged to take part and we try to get every person out at least once a month to places they might be interested in visiting, but it is always their choice, ultimately. We believe that having choice is very integral in helping residents feel that they still have control of their lives.

Activities are provided by everyone in our home, from Carers and specialised activities staff, right through to the admin team.

We are a registered member of the National Activity Providers Association (NAPA), which means that we are always working to make the quality of life of all residents as high as possible by offering person-centred activities that aim to stimulate both mentally and physically.

My name is Xen and I am lucky enough to be the Activities Coordinator here at Ashfields.

I have experience working in care homes in Activities and leisure and lifestyle roles. In my own time I love to go antique shopping and making crafts.

I love being part of the Ashfields team and supporting our residents to live their best lives with fun, interesting, and varied activities available every week. Life at Ashfields Care Home

All Things England

We celebrated all things England in preparation of the semi-finals. Residents and staff took part in various activities throughout the day. Flags were at the ready, as we will be watching England vs Denmark in the semi-finals on the big screen in our cinema lounge with a selection of beverages and snacks.

A Trip to Norfolk

As soon as the sun peer through the clouds this morning we thought we would take full advantage of Ashfields' very own minibus and pop to the local broads for a spot of fish and chips. Residents really enjoyed sitting beside the river feeding the baby ducklings.

,

Green Fingers

A couple of our residents here at Ashfields went out in the garden to tidy up some of our plants before the weekends wet weather.

It looks as if our cauliflower and cabbage had been eaten and our onions were ready to come out! We took a stroll round the garden to look at all the beautiful flowers out in bloom.

,

Armed Forces Day

Residents and staff at Ashfields paid their respects to soldiers past and present for Armed Forces Day, usually celebrated on the 26th June, however, we have decided to celebrate this a day early so the news is relevant for you.

,

Senior Health & Fitness Day

There were smiles all round at Ashfields as live entertainers are allowed to perform indoors once again. Sarah Chow performed Zumba armchair exercise for staff and residents on Senior Health and Fitness Day.

Created to inspire senior-friendly physical activity, the national day was launched to increase awareness of the importance of remaining active to maintain strong, healthy joints and muscles, and to encourage diet and lifestyle changes for an overall improvement to well-being, and illness prevention.

A Day at the Beach

Ashfields residents took a trip down Memory Lane with our 'day at the beach' reminiscence activity.

Residents really enjoyed seaside-themed dining, with homemade fish and chips made by our talented chef, and a visit from Mr. Whippy, the local ice cream van.

After lunch, we used various materials, such as a seaside memorabilia packs, including shells, pictures and memorable leaflets from holiday cams and beaches, to spark conversations about memories of the days at the Norfolk coast.

We also watched a documentary on the North Norfolk coast and participated in seaside nostalgia jigsaw puzzles.

It was so interesting listening to the memories of the residents and how far they travelled for their caravan holidays.
