Activities at Ashcombe House Care Home
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.
Michelle Martin
I’m a fun, loud and outgoing individual who loves organising fun activities for residents at Ashcombe House (and staff, if possible). I’m very creative and keep the residents very active, both mentally and physically In my spare time, I love doing a lot of fundraising, which usually ends up with me sliding in mud.

Zoolab Returns
Zoolab visited with some special creepy crawlies for Halloween. We were treated to a giant African land snail, hissing cockroaches, a millipede, a snake, a rat and everyone’s favourite: Charlie the gecko. We all learnt lots about their various habitats and were able to hold all the animals.
Macmillan Coffee Morning
Ashcombe had a ‘latte’ fun hosting a Macmillan Coffee Morning; the residents baked cookies and cakes for the event. We were joined by lots of friends and family for a chat and a cuppa, and managed to raise an amazing £54.50 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Lasham Garden Centre
A group of ladies enjoyed a trip out shopping and having some lunch at Lasham Garden Centre. The centre has a wonderful shop that sells a variety of things, and we all came back with something. Chatting around the table the ladies enjoyed a wonderful home-cooked lunch.
The Jolly Boy's Outing
It was a nice afternoon, so we took the gentlemen of the home on a 'Jolly Boy's Outing' to Spruce Goose, our local pub. We sat in the pub garden enjoying the sunshine a beer and some snacks.
Perfect Pizza
We host weekly baking clubs here at Ashcombe. Most recently, the bakers decided to make pizza using a variety of toppings, and we had lots of fun making a mess. The pizzas were shared out amongst everyone and went down very well.
Kitty Delight
One of our Carers also fosters animals for the RSPCA and brought some baby kittens in to show the residents how she carries out feeding and washing the kittens, as the mother had abandoned them after birth.
