Activities at Arbour Court Care Home

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a variety of activities and events for all residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus, visits from entertainers and musicians and small group and individual activities in quiet yet stimulating environments. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect resident individual interests as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Life at Arbour Court Care Home

Book corner with Henry Slator

We had a lovely time joining Henry Slator for an exciting virtual event to discuss his book ‘Conversations at the Pond’.

Henry had an unusual writing journey, which many of our residents found inspiring, he underwent chemotherapy in early 2020, which allowed him to rediscover his light-hearted outlook on life by imagining conversations with creatures in and around his large garden pond and adding buckets of fun.

The entertaining Conversations at the Pond, with its mass of colourful illustrations, took our residents along his journey, they felt inspired, cheered and loved hearing all about Henry’s experiences.

Easter hunt in the garden

We have spent time in our garden preparing for our Easter egg hunt and enjoying time to reflect and share memories of Easter, childhood egg hunts in the garden and traditions as a family.

Easter crafts

Residents at Arbour Court enjoy their regular arts and crafts sessions as they show their creative sides, recently we had a lot of fun making our very own personal Easter cards to send to loved ones for Easter.  Happy Easter from everyone at Arbour Court.

A trip to the park and tasty fish and chips

We have been out and about in our local community, enjoying walks and time spent sitting and chatting in the beautiful calming gardens of Marple Memorial Park before tucking into, and enjoying fish and chips from local chippy.

Long Service celebrated

A House Keeper at Arbour Court in Marple has received a prestigious Long Service Award in celebration of working at Barchester Healthcare for 20 years.  Elaine, started at Barchester in April 2002 and has worked with residents and their relatives to ensure that their needs have been met over the years.

The Astor's at Cliveden

Our residents came together to enjoy an exciting virtual talk courtesy of the team at National Trust Talks Service.  The illustrated talk took us closer to one of Cliveden’s most famous families, the Astors. Our residents were able to discover what motivated William Waldorf Astor, America’s richest man, to purchase Cliveden in 1893 and how the estate became the centre of high society in the 1920 s and 30 s thanks to his son Waldorf and daughter in law Nancy Astor.

The Astors time at Cliveden came to an end in the 1960 s after the estate became infamously associated with Profumo Affair, but the house and garden continue to reflect their innovations and passions.  We all had a brilliant time.
