Activities at Arbour Court Care Home

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a variety of activities and events for all residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus, visits from entertainers and musicians and small group and individual activities in quiet yet stimulating environments. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect resident individual interests as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Life at Arbour Court Care Home

Inside Cliveden

We were treated to an amazing live virtual talk and a tour of Cliveden, hosted by the house and chapel guides from the National Trust Talks Service.

The volunteers kindly gave us a tour around the famous house taking an in-depth look at Cliveden’s many stories from its 350 year history, from devilish dukes to scandalous headlines and boundary-breaking garden designs to political notoriety.

Starting with the Duke of Buckingham who built the first house in 1666, our residents met the key owners who helped shape the house and its gardens including the Orkney, Sutherland and Astor families.

The talk was accompanied by an illustrated presentation which brought to life these individuals and showed how their influence at Cliveden still continues today.

Valentine treats

We celebrated Valentines with an array of love themed activities from our ‘hearts and crafts’ session which was very popular, we created beautiful love hears to send to our loved ones, a themed menu especially prepared by our homes hospitality team to live entertainment by vocalists, Sam Jones and Musical Delights. It was a fun-filled day!

Community spirit

Here at Arbour Court we have many links within our local community, this is important to our residents and colleagues as it brings a lot too to the home with intergenerational links, community spirit and keeps our residents engaged in their community.  During February we supported a local Tameside school which provides ‘thrive’ education and support to children from different social and economic backgrounds.  The pupils have shared lovely letters of thanks on receipt of our donation.

Virtual coffee experience

We had a fabulous time joining NESCAFÉ’s virtual coffee experience.

We were able to look into how they sustainably farm their coffee beans, as well as, to have a virtual tour of one of their factories all from the comfort of our home.

To make things even more interesting, our residents had the chance to test their knowledge with an interactive quiz, and to the delight of all to taste the signature Sweet Cinnamon Shaken Iced Coffee cocktail.

Time to talk

Here at Arbour Court we marked Time to Talk Day by holding small conversations about big issues and mental health.

Run by Mind and Rethink Mental Illness is the nation’s biggest mental health conversation. We got into the spirit of the day by discussing mental health and hosting mindfulness and positive affirmation sessions.

During the day we focused on raising awareness, having meaningful discussions and of course having fun.

Winter Olympics

Here at Arbour Court we are getting ready to follow this year’s Winter Olympic Games in Beijing running between 4th and 20th of February.   We decorated our home with flags and enjoyed watching the amazing opening ceremony, as we took part in themed sporting activities of our own.

In the next couple of weeks, our residents will get involved in a variety of winter activities as they watch performers from around the world compete in a number of winter disciplines such as ski, figure skating, biathlon and more.
