My mum unexpectedly had to go into a care home and was transferred to one under a D2A. With no experience of care homes, I thought it was “normal” but was devastated every time I visited and left her there. I decided to look elsewhere and came across Arbour Court. From my first visit, I was blown away. Every single staff member is fantastic, and it is more like a hotel than a care home. I visited mum multiple times daily, and loved just being there, and she was really flourishing in the environment too. The activities are amazing and the staff are so attentive and thoughtful, I could not have asked for more. Unfortunately my mum passed away soon after moving to Arbour Court following a short illness (which the nurses picked up on immediately), and I am deeply regretful that my mum did not get to stay longer here. Despite her short stay, the staff were and are, so caring and I cannot thank them enough. If you are looking for a nursing home for your loved one, I couldn’t recommend Arbour Court enough - I would have moved in myself!

"During our initial visit to Arbour Court with the General manager we were not only impressed with the home but also the advice & support we received to help us through what had been an extremely difficult period in trying to find a suitable home for Mum. It was by far the best home we had visited - it is a lovely place with a very 'homely' feel. Mum has been there for 3 weeks now & a special effort had been made to accomodate her in a room with a garden view with very calming decoration in the room. Moving her in was seamless. The care she has received has been excellent & she is settling in well & showing and interest in the many activities they have."

After my dad was in The Meadows and was treated so poorly, making the decision to move him into another care setting was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. When we visited Arbour Court, it was the most positive experience we could have hoped for. The warm welcome from Lisa, the manager, immediately made us feel at home. She showed us around, introduced us to staff, and truly made us feel like part of a family. Over the 14 months my dad was there, that feeling never faded — it was always an incredible place with caring people.

Recently, my dad passed away, and in doing so, we gained another family — not just the residents and staff, but everyone who was part of that community. The most amazing thing was how welcoming and accessible it was — you could visit anytime, which honestly made us feel like there was nothing to hide, and that was so comforting. The care, support, and kindness from the care staff, nurses, activity coordinators, and everyone else made me feel that we couldn’t have chosen a better place. We all truly became a family, not by blood, but by shared understanding — that none of us are alone in this cruel illness called dementia.

In the final week of my dad’s life, my brother, my mum, and I stayed with him. My mum had her own room, and we were by his bedside day and night. The staff, the manager, nurses, other residents, and their families came to see us as we stayed with him. They fed us, helped us care for my dad, and showed incredible compassion. I wanted to help care for him — just as he had always cared for me — and I’ll never forget how supported and loved we felt during that time.

Losing my dad was the hardest thing I’ve ever experienced, but it wasn’t sad — it was filled with so many beautiful memories and love. Our extended family at Arbour Court provided comfort and strength, and I can’t praise them enough. It’s a place I feel comfortable visiting anytime, knowing everyone there truly cares.

My mum has now taken on the role of Friends and Family Support Coordinator as a volunteer, and I, too, will be getting involved with volunteer care work. The love and kindness we found there will forever hold a special place in our hearts.

Arbour Court management & staff were absolutely wonderful in their care of my husband. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Staff are always cheerful & patient with the residents. They catered to his needs without patronising him. They treated us & more importantly him as if he was special. The caring & gentle way they carry out their duties is an example to all care & nursing homes. Can't find the words to convey my gratitude for their care of him. Anyone wanting a safe, gentle & professional facility for their loved one, Arbour Court is wonderful. I thoroughly recommend it.

My stepdad went to Arbour Court for palliative care, the staff have been absolutely amazing and treated him with so much respect & kindness. They are so compassionate & genuine & went above & beyond to ensure his last days were the best they could be. He had a lovely room with a view of the garden & he could see & hear the birds singing. They extended their kindness to us as a family & gave us peace of mind that he was being treated well. We will be forever grateful to the staff, although he was only there for a few days it made the biggest difference, we cannot thank them enough

"The entire staff at Arbour Court are, without exception, brilliant, caring, professional, always cheerful and above all compassionate. They treat my husband with respect at all times and ensure he still has his dignity. The general manager and finance manager have been nothing but helpful. Although the fees are high, the home is good value for money because it gives the family peace of mind that our loved one is receiving the best of care. I cannot fault the home in any way. I would thoroughly recommend Arbour Court to anyone looking for a care home for a loved one."

"When my wife needed end-of-life treatment, my daughter and I visited Arbour Court. We were so impressed! The building was bright and clean and the staff warm and friendly. When my wife moved in, her room was nicely decorated, with good lighting and little touches, like photo frames provided. During all my visits over 5 weeks, I never saw residents treated with anything other than compassion and respect. My wife's team of carers were so caring and good-humoured, forming a lovely, even affectionate relationship with her and the family. A wonderful team of medical staff monitored her condition regularly and she received effective medication to control pain and distress. Her family and friends were also very well looked after; we could not have asked for better."

"Caring for my mum was an isolating experience - she looks well - she looks young - in shops & cafes, people had no time or patience for her & that experience isolated us both. Since Mum moved to Arbour Court, I no longer feel alone. I have 20/30 other people around me who understand and care! I became isolated from friends & family, & now I feel we've all become part of an extended family. The caring environment has benefited us all.
