Activities at Arbour Court Care Home

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a variety of activities and events for all residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus, visits from entertainers and musicians and small group and individual activities in quiet yet stimulating environments. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect resident individual interests as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

A winning cake!

Colleagues of Arbour Court showed a little friendly competition with their staff Easter cake competition along with the homes resident’s entering the annual Barchester Easter cake competition. There was a little rivalry with the entries to much humour, with Jo, Head of Housekeeping winner the staff entry.  Jo was presented with flowers and a gift for her contribution.  Well done, Jo!

Residents pay their respects

Staff and residents at Arbour Court in Stockport paid their respects to Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh on the day of his funeral, 17 April 2021. The whole home came together to honour Prince Philip’s long and extraordinary life of service to the Queen, the British people and the Commonwealth over his 73 year marriage to the Queen, making him the longest-serving Consort to any British monarch.

Residents and staff watched the televised service that took place at St George’s Chapel in the grounds of Windsor Castle and observed the minute’s silence in memory of the Duke. After the ceremony, staff and residents discussed their memories of Prince Philip and the Queen and what the royal family has meant to them over the years.  They reminisced about royal tours and the Duke’s contribution to many different aspects of British life.

General Manager, Kelly Tatton said: “We all felt it was really important to mark this occasion. Prince Philip achieved so much over his 99 years. We wanted to come together and give thanks for his life and to celebrate his many achievements.”

Birthday celebrations

Birthdays play an important part of the homes life enrichment programme and we love celebrating them with cakes, music and gifts. Residents also are enjoying visits from their loved ones.

Easter celebrations at Arbour

It was a very busy time here at Arbour Court with our Easter celebrations from delivering Easter eggs, gifts to each of the homes residents and colleagues to the homes entry into the annual Barchester Easter Cake and bonnet competition.  Residents made their very own cake and bonnets during their popular arts and crafts sessions, sharing stories of their younger days and childhood memories. It was a lovely time.

Finger print to the heart

During lock down we appreciate how hard it has been for our residents and families to be apart and we are always looking at new heartfelt ways to keep them together and connected.

As part of resident centred activities we have started to create our “finger to hearts keepsakes” with residents putting their finger print on the heart and with a poem and heart chocolate in the little organza gift bag.

Mother's Day

Residents at Barchester Healthcare’s Arbour Court care home, celebrated Mother’s Day with a tea party and video calls with the family. The home was beautifully decorated with fresh flowers and bunting for the occasion.
