Activities at Woodside House Care Home

Activities at Woodside House

Our activities team deliver a wide variety of mentally and physically stimulating activities and events for those we support, including coffee afternoons, which we hold every month for the local community, regular outings in our minibus, and visits from entertainers and musicians. Monthly resident meetings help us to ensure that those living here are getting the most out of our activities programme, and that our social events reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible. From growing our own vegetables to making giant paper-mâché animals, there is always something fun going on at Woodside House.

Sam Lake

Activities Coordinator

My name is Sam and I lead our Activities Team at Woodside House.

I have been at Woodside House since 2004 and I love it here. I am responsible for ensuring that the residents are able to participate in sociable, fun and rewarding activities. My team and I are very passionate about our work and love putting smiles on the residents' faces.

We involve the residents in the planning of our activity calendars and encourage residents to continue with the hobbies that they have enjoyed throughout their lives. We will support every resident to try new things and we love learning from our residents every day.

World Food Day

Here at Woodside House, we celebrated World Food Day with a hugely varied dessert tasting session!

We had cheesecake from the Philippines, a Victoria Sponge from Britain, Romanian biscuit and chocolate snacks, croissants from Italy, doughnuts from America and Baklava from Greece. And whilst we are happy to try cakes from around the world, it was widely agreed that they do have to be accompanied by a nice British cup of tea.

Grandparents Day

Here at Woodside House, we celebrated Grandparents Day with our residents. We gave out little boxes of chocolate and pot plants for our residents to enjoy in their rooms, and we had a little party with scones and cakes, which was enjoyed by all!

Games Afternoon

We had a lovely morning playing some games together, and some of the residents were quite competitive!

Special Guests

We welcomed back some visitors under very strict guidelines. It was so lovely for our residents to see the mini donkeys; it put a smile on everyone's faces.

Baking Club

Resident always enjoy baking club. Most recently, we made cheese straws. Resident ssaid the smell was lovely and thath they tasted great too.

Some Downtime

We enjoyed a little downtime watching the snooker. Edgar loved it, as it's his favourite sport.
