Activities at Wood Grange Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Ruby-Mae Walker
Hello, my name is Ruby-Mae and I am the activities Co-Ordinator here at Wood Grange.

Life at Wood Grange Care Home

Barry’s New Skill: Capturing Memories of Vera Lynn with a Photocopier
At our care home, we always encourage residents to pursue their interests and learn new skills. Recently, Barry, one of our cherished residents, decided to learn how to use the photocopier. With a bit of guidance, he successfully copied pages from a book about his idol, Vera Lynn. The joy on his face was priceless as he held the pages of his favourite singer’s story in hand. Barry’s enthusiasm reminds us that it’s never too late to learn something new, especially when it connects us with the things we love.

40th Anniversary Celebrations at Bourne Flower Club
One of our lovely residents, Mary Jacobs joined the celebrations for the 40th anniversary of Bourne & District flower club which took place at the Darby & Joan Hall on the 10th August.
Mary was a committed member of the club and has very fond memories, she was the chairlady in 2006, 2007 and 2008. Mary was delighted to see her friends and enjoyed the afternoon tea which had a delicious selection of sandwiches, scones and cake.

Homes come together for 'Big Quiz'
Barchester care homes and hospitals nationwide linked together for a fantastic quiz in celebration of Barchester’s 100th live virtual event.
Residents engaged in a variety of questions ranging from historical trivia to visual puzzles and brainteasers.
Everyone who joined had a fantastic time and enjoyed some friendly competition.

Visiting Sacrewell Farm
We took an outing to Sacrewell Farm with the residents who enjoyed the sights of vocal sheep to curious goats and the exotic peacock feather display. After exploring the farm we gathered for lunch, sharing laughter of funny memories and stories, finishing off with a refreshing ice cream.

Willoughby School visited our residents
Year 9 students from Willoughby School visited our residents at Wood Grange, they sat in the garden and created pieces of art using leaves and pressed flowers for decoration. The students had lots to discuss with the residents and were curious about the home's garden.
The students were keen to help in the garden, they helped prune the tomato plants and then discussed what other plants were growing in Wood Grange's garden. We are looking forward to their next visit in the new academic year.

Well done to Anna-Marie for winning the beautiful cake made by Simona and to those who got lucky on the raffle! It was an afternoon to remember!
This event wouldn't have been the same without the vibrant community that came together to celebrate. We appreciate each and every one of you for making the Country Western Fete a success. Here's to many more unforgettable celebrations in the future! Yeehaw! Until next time!
