Activities at Wood Grange Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Ruby-Mae Walker
Hello, my name is Ruby-Mae and I am the activities Co-Ordinator here at Wood Grange.
My background is working in dance education and production as well as experience in the mental health care sector. I am extremely passionate about my role here in promoting life enrichment within the home and I feel privileged to work alongside such amazing people, and to be a part of our residents lives, spending quality time with them on a regular basis. I work alongside Louise to plan and organise daily activities to suit our resident’s needs, Louise and I are very enthusiastic about our roles and the resident’s well-being is always at the forefront of our minds.
I love to dance, keep fit by going to the gym and spending time with family.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Wood Grange Care Home

Festive Floristry Workshop
Staff and residents across our homes were treated to an interactive virtual Christmas-inspired table decorating masterclass, courtesy of talented master florist, Kathryn Delve.
Kathryn is an independent florist based in Somerset, she specialises in creating unique wedding and event flowers. She takes much of her inspiration for her displays from the beautiful scenery that surrounds her home and the changing seasons and colours.
During the workshop, residents were invited to join Kathryn to make beautiful Christmas-themed table decorations.

Life is like a piano!
John had piano lessons from the age of 8 years old up until he was 17 years old, a year before he joined the army. John has picked up the courage and confidence to begin playing the piano again after Ruby-Mae (activities co-ordinator) sourced an electric piano from a generous member of the community.
John plays every afternoon after lunch, bringing his sheet music with him that he got from his home. John has said at Christmas time he is going to retrieve the Christmas carol sheet music book and play for us over the festive period.

Walk through a landscape
Residents across our services had a lovely time joining Emily and Marie-Therese from the Wallace Collection, for a virtual introduction to Reubens' Rainbow Landscape.
Residents truly enjoyed the sensory walk through one of the museum’s most famous landscape paintings.
Everyone who joined had a wonderful experience and can’t wait to put their creative skills to the test by painting some landscapes of our their in the coming days!

Barry's Wish
Barry's wish was to spend a day out in town, and the activities team made it happen! He enjoyed a delicious cappuccino at Costa and then headed to Marks & Spencer to pick out a ready meal, with an added bonus of meeting the Don’t Lose Hope Bear. Barry said he had a fantastic time and is already looking forward to the next outing.

Showaddywaddy
A volunteer tribute band to Showaddywaddy recently visited Wood Grange, delivering a fun and interactive performance that delighted residents. The cheerful music and lively atmosphere had everyone tapping their feet and singing along, creating a joyful experience for all.
The band's vibrant visual effects added an extra layer of excitement, capturing the attention of many and making the performance even more engaging. It was a truly uplifting event that brought smiles and energy to the residents, leaving them with fond memories of a fantastic show.

Celebrating 65-years!
Our lovely resident John and his wife June celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary over an afternoon tea experience at the home, organised by family and the activities team.
The Chef created a beautiful cake that showcased a significant photo from their wedding day. This celebration brought them so much joy as they reminisced on their beautiful memories made together.
Happy anniversary from everyone here at Wood Grange!
