Activities at Wood Grange Care Home

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Ruby-Mae Walker

Activities Coordinator

Hello, my name is Ruby-Mae and I am the activities Co-Ordinator here at Wood Grange.

My background is working in dance education and production as well as experience in the mental health care sector. I am extremely passionate about my role here in promoting life enrichment within the home and I feel privileged to work alongside such amazing people, and to be a part of our residents lives, spending quality time with them on a regular basis. I work alongside Louise to plan and organise daily activities to suit our resident’s needs, Louise and I are very enthusiastic about our roles and the resident’s well-being is always at the forefront of our minds.

I love to dance, keep fit by going to the gym and spending time with family.

Margaret's Beauty Treatment

Margaret's Beauty Treatment

Resident Margaret received a hand massage from her daughter Jane. Jane celebrated 1 year since the opening of her beauty salon and her mum Margaret had never seen the salon before, due to suffering from anxiety.

However, with a lot of reassurance activities Margaret was able to go and visit her daughter's salon. This was such an amazing surprise for Jane who said that she never ever thought her mum would see her place of work.

The Magic Table

We are delighted to announce that we have just had a Magic Table installed, which is an interactive light projector, designed to support residents living with dementia by keeping them engaged through specialised games.

The light projections respond to hand and arm movement, allowing residents to stay stimulated and, most of all, have fun!

You can read more about it on this page.

Eat Your Garden

Eat Your Garden

Throughout the week, we had a raffle in reception, and staff and families baked cakes for us that were made with ingredients from the garden, such as rhubarb, beetroot, lavender and carrots. These cakes were cut up and sold alongside recipe book that detailed the process of making them, which was titled ‘Eat your Garden’. After announcing that the cakes could be part of your 5 a day, sales increased immensely.

Easter at Wood Grange

There was lots happening throughout Easter here at Wood Grange!

Residents, loved ones and staff members made lots of cake for Barchester's Easter Cake Competition, and we were joined by our little friends from Busy Bees Nursery, who came in to make Easter cereal with residents. Everyone had a lovely, but messy time doing this.

We also invited some children of Bourne in to hunt for eggs. We hid over 150 for the kids to find in the garden, as it was such a lovely day.

Finally, we were joined by ladies from the local community, who designed some beautiful flower arrangements for the occasion.

It was a wonderful Easter for everyone!

Clearer Productions

Clearer Productions

Clearer Productions singers, Nikki and Neil, visited our home to put on a wonderful performance for residents. It was lots of fun and we can't wait to have them back!

Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day

We hosted a competition in recognition of Valentine's Day to see who could design the best card. There were lots of entrants and the judges (John & Martin) said that it was a very tough decision for them, as all the cards were fantastic.
