Activities at Wood Grange Care Home

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Ruby-Mae Walker

Activities Coordinator

Hello, my name is Ruby-Mae and I am the activities Co-Ordinator here at Wood Grange.

My background is working in dance education and production as well as experience in the mental health care sector. I am extremely passionate about my role here in promoting life enrichment within the home and I feel privileged to work alongside such amazing people, and to be a part of our residents lives, spending quality time with them on a regular basis. I work alongside Louise to plan and organise daily activities to suit our resident’s needs, Louise and I are very enthusiastic about our roles and the resident’s well-being is always at the forefront of our minds.

I love to dance, keep fit by going to the gym and spending time with family.

Life at Wood Grange Care Home

Christmas Card Creations

Busy Bees nursery showed residents how much fun could be had by playing with glitter when they created their own Christmas cards.

Busy Bees

Residents and Busy Bees nursery enjoyed reading stories together. Everyone always looks forward to the this activity. Busy bees join us twice a month for playing games singing and story time.

Pot Crafts

Our home's ambassador, Jean Biggs, assisted a memory lane resident in decorating a pot ready to plant her hyacinth. We had lots of fun doing this but as you can see we also had lots of fun getting in a mess.

East Kirkby Airfield

Resident Ray, who was celebrating his 100th birthday, is a veteran of the forces and really enjoyed visiting East Kirkby Airfield, as did his friends from the home, who spent the day out with him. Ray’s son met us at the airfield and also spent the day with him.

Sensory Bus , Sensory Bus

Sensory Bus

Residents Heidi & Robina had a lovely time on the sensory bus, which visited us here at Wood Grange for a day. This was such a success that it has been arranged for the bus to visit every Tuesday throughout the summer weeks.

Margaret's Beauty Treatment

Margaret's Beauty Treatment

Resident Margaret received a hand massage from her daughter Jane. Jane celebrated 1 year since the opening of her beauty salon and her mum Margaret had never seen the salon before, due to suffering from anxiety.

However, with a lot of reassurance activities Margaret was able to go and visit her daughter's salon. This was such an amazing surprise for Jane who said that she never ever thought her mum would see her place of work.
