Activities at Wimborne Care Home
Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.
Zoe Freeman
I have been working in care since 2019 and love the industry. I came from working on cruise ships and running events and activities there which has set me up to be a successful activities coordinator in care. You will never see me without a smile on my face and always bring my fun and bubbly personality to my job. My favourite part of my job is making people cheerful and help make their wishes come true to show people that age is just a number and we can have fun no matter what!

Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Wimborne Care Home
Royal Wedding Celebrations
Everybody at Wimborne joined in with the Royal Wedding celebrations by watching the Royal Wedding live on the television, which was shortly followed by an afternoon tea with a slice of delicious wedding cake. Residents all commented on how beautiful Meghan looked and wished the happy couple a long and happy marriage.
Knit & Natter Group
We host a knit & natter group once a week in the lounge. Residents are able to knit whatever they fancy, such as scarfs, blankets and knitted animals, whilst enjoying a good ol' natter over a cup of tea, cake and biscuits.
Enjoying the Sunshine!
Everybody had a great time enjoying the beautiful sunshine over the May bank holiday. Residents could be found playing games, reading the morning newspapers and all round relaxing in the courtyards, gardens and the grounds.
Barry's Wish
Resident, Barry, has always wanted to sing with the King of Rock 'n' Roll himself, and staff members at Wimborne wanted to make this wish a reality. They contacted a local entertainer, who provided all the karaoke equipment we needed.
Our very talented Gardener and Maintenance Assistance also dressed up as Elvis along with Barry. Barry was over the moon that his wish came true and he was able to sing the afternoon away along to Elvis's classics.
The afternoon was thoroughly enjoyed by all staff, Barry's family and also fellow residents.
Cheese, Wine & Smiles
We recently held a cheese & wine evening for all our wonderful and lovely residents. The evening was full of laughter as residents indulged in all the different varieties of cheeses and wines, which were served up with crackers, biscuits, grapes and also homemade cheese straws, which were freshly made during the morning's Kitchen Corner.
Open Day
Here at Wimborne, we had a fantastic day; wonderful staff were on hand to provide show rounds of our beautiful home and talk about the wonderful services we provide.
Joy came along and visited Wimborne with her beautiful selection of homemade cards that were available to purchase. Neighbours, relatives and the local community joined us for a light lunch, along with delicious refreshments, all prepared by our wonderful kitchen team.
After lunch, everybody enjoyed a game of ‘At the Races’ with medals handed out to the winners. This was followed by a game of ‘guessing what's in the Queen's handbag’, all whilst enjoying the delicious homemade Queen's handbag cake with afternoon tea.
The day was thoroughly enjoyed by all residents, staff, relatives and visitors.
