Activities at Westgate House Care Home
Our role in the home is fundamental to ensuring that our residents enjoy a fulfilling quality of life. We strive to provide a stimulating, creative & varied range of activities & events in the home, which everyone can enjoy whether they prefer social group engagement or one to one interaction. Residents choice is what we aim to provide to the best of our abilities. We enjoy being creative, sharing projects and discussing with our residents the kind of activities they would like to enjoy. Both indoor and outdoor activities are offered to cater for all tastes as well as regular outings to local places of interest.

Kelly and Sandra have worked for Westgate House for over 12 years, so have many years’ experience. They love having fun with the residents and providing a variety of activities.

Life at Westgate House Care Home
Barchester's 25th Anniversary
This delicious cake was baked by our very own volunteer, Valerie, to celebrate Barchester's 25th anniversary.
Our Darts Champions
Darts is a very popular game at Westgate House, so we held a tournament, where the highest scorers were given a medal. Rose, who used to be on a ladies darts team, won gold, Elini came second (it was her first ever game) and Ola came third.
Global Buffet Dinner
Westgate House's General Manager, Francis Nri, treated the domestic team to a Global Buffet dinner in recognition of their hard work, commitment and achievements as a team.
Great fun and laughter was had by all, and staff agreed that excellence is Westgate's aim.
Congratulations, Valerie!
Our new volunteer, Valerie Reid, accepted on behalf of The Gainsborough Learning Centre, a group award for achievements in baking, named the Inspire Adult Achievement Award from the London Borough of Newham. Valerie has joined our team at Westgate as a regular volunteer and will be using her skills to decorate cakes for the activities team.
Make May Purple
Residents, staff & visitors of Westgate House supported fellow care staff member, Anita Mbewe, with raising money for the Make May Purple Stroke Association appeal on behalf of her father, Isaac Mbewe, and all stroke survivors, by holding a 'Sip for Stroke' cake sale, which raised £245.72.
Isaac is a retired engineer who, after having worked hard all his life, indulged his passion for farming by relocating to a farm. Unfortunately, Isaac suffered multiple strokes in 2016, losing his ability to walk and talk. He faced many physical and emotional challenges, as he was unable to do all the things that he once was able to do for himself.
Isaac is a greatly loved and respected member of his family, who fully support him. Anita, his daughter, decided to raise money for Make May Purple for her father and all who live with the effects of having a stroke. General Manager, Frances Nri, was very happy to support the cause.

Staff and residents recently said thank you and farewell to Operations Manager, Matthew Cox, who was leaving Westgate House for pastures new.
