Activities at Wadhurst Manor Care Home
On a weekly basis we have many visitors to the home from the people like the University of the Third age and local small animal farms, who bring in their chickens and sheep. We also like to go out shopping and on day trips to local garden centres and when the weather is good picnics and tours of the beautiful local countryside. We have speciality days at the home which could be a theme of a country, or for specific times of year, including Halloween, Bonfire Night or Christmas. We have card games and art classes and a serious knitting team in the home who produce blankets and premature baby clothes for the local maternity unit.
Sarah Smith
I have worked at Wadhurst Manor in many different roles since December 2011. Prior to this I worked as a nurse, exercise teacher and and preschool supervisor. I have 4 lovely children who are now grown up and travelling the world. My hobbies include visiting my children, singing, dancing, hiking, mountain biking, skiing, reading and amateur dramatics.I find enabling residents to remain active and engaged both physically and mentally is a wonderfully rewarding job. I particularly enjoy working on our memory lane units becoming immersed in their realities, enabling them to live their best lives by concentrating on what they can do not what they can't.

Life at Wadhurst Manor Care Home
Summer Fair at the Mount
Some of our residents joined the residents at The Mount Camphill Community for their Summer Fair. They enjoyed homemade scones and tea while listening to the band, then looked round the stalls.
South Farm Stables
We had a wonderful afternoon visiting South Farm Stables; we were introduced to ponies, kittens, cats, dogs and kestrels. The weather stayed fine and we were able to enjoy tea and cakes in the garden.
Pet-Assisted Therapy
Residents enjoyed another visit from Daisy the PAT dog, which sparked much conversation about past pets.
All the Fun of the Fair
Several residents braved the weather and attended the annual Wadhurst Fair at Uplands School. A great time was had by all. It was also lovely to catch up with friends from The Mount who were doing the refreshments.
Music Therapy
Residents enjoyed an afternoon of singing and dancing with Ryan on the Amber wing. Everyone joined in with hands in the air for the chorus of Sweet Caroline.
Marco the Magician
Residents had a wonderful trip down memory lane with Marco the Magician and his Seaside Show, which included magic, singing, comedy and a Punch & Judy show. Nearly everyone got involved with the singing, helping with magic tricks and having their photos taken in the photo booths.
It really was a wonderful afternoon, with several residents commenting on how good he was. The highlight of the show was Tom the rabbit, who behaved impeccably as everyone stroked him. He even paid a few visits to residents' rooms for a cuddle.
