Activities at Tennyson Wharf Care Home

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

International chocolate cake day!

Thank you so much to everyone who entered our competition. We had lots of great photo entries of wonderful chocolate cake creations

Residents and staff enjoyed looking at all the entries to cast their votes for their favourite cake creation. We split the entries into two groups, adult and children which gives us two lucky winners

Our adult winner was Anne-Marie and our child winner was Faye! Congratulations! We will be in touch regarding your prizes

Well done and thank you to everyone that entered. We really enjoyed judging them all

Celebrating Australia Day!

Ranger Chris, joined us from the outback today for a day of crocodile wrestling and kangaroo boxing

Residents enjoyed a game of Australian animal themed pairs as well as Australian crosswords and wordsearches. Of course there was lots of fun with the inflatables too! A great way to support intellectual and learning and development needs to be met whilst enjoying a cultural experience.

Many residents here have visited Australia and enjoyed reminiscing, sharing their fond memories amongst friends throughout the day. It was very heart warming to hear all the lovely memories

Burns Night Celebrations

Burns night celebrations

Well there has been singing, crafting, poetry, whisky and a very funny attempt at the Highland fling!

One of our residents, Carol, amazed us all with a beautifully sung rendition of A Red, Red Rose which was one of Robert Burns well known poems. What an outstanding performance it was too, we were privileged to hear the special song

Not to mention the amazing themed dining experience provided by the kitchen team with a wide range of traditional burns night delights for us to enjoy! It certainly had our taste buds tingling! Residents said the whisky sauce was delicious!

Our Virtual Church Service and Virtual Tour of local Mosque

We spent some time last week looking at and learning about religions around the world

We held religious quizzes to test our knowledge on different religions and spent time doing calming colouring of special religious buildings and artifacts

We took part in our own Church of England virtual service as well as joining the Lincoln Mosque to learn more about how Muslims worship. What an honour it was to be taken on a special virtual tour of the mosque whilst we was enlightened on the culture and religion of those that worship there. They was kind enough to invite us to visit them in the near future which we are very much looking forward too. It was lovely to feel so welcomed within a part of the local community to learn
