Activities at Tennyson Wharf Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Rebecca Harrowing
Hi my name is Rebecca, I started working at Tennyson Wharf in July 2024.
Previous to starting at Tennyson Wharf I have lived in many countries and worked as a supply teacher and administrator in Bahrain in the Middle East - I have also worked in scouting programme groups in both the USA and UK.
Whilst I have worked with children for a lot of my life, working with the elderly is always been something I have been passionate about. I believe that everybody has a story to tell and our residents life stories all add value to Tennyson Wharf.
Outside of work I enjoy walking, gardening and going to the cinema.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Tennyson Wharf Care Home

Beach day at Tennyson Wharf
The weather was absolutely stunning, perfect for a beach day at Tennyson Wharf. It was certainly a day full of fun, with lots of laughter and smiles. We all enjoyed playing beach games, building sandcastles and as a special treat we all had fish and chips for lunch followed by an ice cream from The Pink ice cream van.

Dogs Trust
Across of homes residents had a fantastic time during a special live virtual event, led by Jennifer and Emily from Dogs Trust, the UK's largest dog welfare charity. Jennifer and Emily took us on a journey to discover the rich history of Dogs Trust and their facilities.
Using captivating video and photo footage, our residents were able to explore rehoming centres and learn more about the highest level of welfare offered there. It was a delightful experience for everyone, especially our dog lovers.

Trip to the garden centre
It might have been raining but that didn't spoil our visit to Pennells Lincoln garden centre this week.
We had a wonderful visit, residents very much enjoyed looking around and having some delicious cake and tea in the Cafe.
We look forward to visiting again soon.

Sunflower fields
The weather has been beautiful her at Tennyson Wharf. Perfect weather for growing our Sun flowers, we planted the seeds back in March and some are now towering over our residents.
We also enjoyed looking at the gorgeous wild flowers that are in full bloom at the front of our home which were planted by our fantastic gardener Derrick.

Farm life for Tennyson residents
Tennyson Wharf was full of animal mischief on Wednesday when our residents took a trip to the local farm.
Residents at Tennyson Wharf Care Home were pleasantly surprised to see animals such as donkeys, geese and rabbits roaming around their garden at the Bransby Horses Farm and cafe
General Manager Sarah Noutch said: “Our residents have really enjoyed their unusual visitors today. We knew that having the farm here would be a bit of fun for all our residents, especially as some find it difficult to go on many outings in our minibus. We are always looking for new activities for the residents and today we have seen the seen the enjoyment and the therapeutic influence animals can have on people.”

Chippy Teas all around at Tennyson Wharf
Staff and residents at Barchester’s Tennyson Wharf care home in Burton Waters had a fantastic time celebrating National Fish & Chip Day on ‘Fryday’ 2nd June, surely one of the best days of the year!
Head chef Dawn whipped up a selection of different flavoured batters for residents to try along with some home-made tartare sauce and mushy peas, everyone had a great time guessing the different batter ingredients. The sun was shining so residents took to the garden to eat their fish and chips.
