Activities at Sutton Grange Care Home

Here at Sutton Grange we work really hard at providing a range of activities to suit our residents needs. We understand that everyone is different and we enjoy supporting our residents in whatever activities they would like to take part in. With a dedicated Activities co-ordinator and a friendly team of volunteers we are always busy with activities. We have several clubs including; gardening, film, craft, music, puzzles, and singing. We enjoy live music and entertainment, both in and outside of the home, and have regular outings on the minibus to local places of interest. Residents take part in animal assisted therapy, afternoon tea, arts and crafts classes, and visits from local community groups and school children. We believe it is important to provide stimulating, meaningful and relevant activities for our residents in order to make friends, and build a warm community to live.

Alison Wareing

Activities Co-Ordinator

Hi, I'm Alison.  I am the Activities Co-ordinator here at Sutton Grange, I joined the team in 2016.

I grew up in the local area and started my career working with animals.  After I had my daughter, and before I joined Barchester, I trained as a teacher and taught lipreading and communication.  The skills I learnt have been invaluable in my role today.

Now, I fill my days spending time with our wonderful Residents, helping them to live their lives to the fullest. I try to make a difference in someone’s life each day.

Life at Sutton Grange Care Home

Coffee Morning

Coffee Morning

A few of us braved the January weather to attend a coffee morning at the local social club, raising funds for St Stephen's Church.

Christmas at Sutton

The children of St Stephen’s Primary School delighted us by coming along to sing Christmas carols beneath the Christmas tree. Other visitors included Banks Brass Band, singer and musician, Hugh Dent, pianist, Stuart Coldwell, and Memory Lane Productions, with their version of The Wizard of Oz. On Christmas Day, Father Christmas managed to call in on his way back to the North Pole and visited every resident with a carefully chosen gift.

Foundation Champion

Foundation Champion

Carer, Ann Soden, was named the 'Foundation Champion of the Year' at the Barchester Care Awards 2017. Ann raised £600 for Barchester's Charitable Foundation after cycling 1,000 miles from Land's End all the way to John O'Groats in just 14 days, and completed the incredible feat on her own without any companions to get her through the toughest parts of the journey.

November Entertainment

November’s entertainers were Debbie Wilson and our regular visitor, Hugh Dent. On each occasion, they found themselves accompanied by own own musicians – Ken tickling the ivories and Bob showing us how to drum.
