Activities at Sutton Grange Care Home

Here at Sutton Grange we work really hard at providing a range of activities to suit our residents needs. We understand that everyone is different and we enjoy supporting our residents in whatever activities they would like to take part in. With a dedicated Activities co-ordinator and a friendly team of volunteers we are always busy with activities. We have several clubs including; gardening, film, craft, music, puzzles, and singing. We enjoy live music and entertainment, both in and outside of the home, and have regular outings on the minibus to local places of interest. Residents take part in animal assisted therapy, afternoon tea, arts and crafts classes, and visits from local community groups and school children. We believe it is important to provide stimulating, meaningful and relevant activities for our residents in order to make friends, and build a warm community to live.

Alison Wareing

Activities Co-Ordinator

Hi, I'm Alison.  I am the Activities Co-ordinator here at Sutton Grange, I joined the team in 2016.

I grew up in the local area and started my career working with animals.  After I had my daughter, and before I joined Barchester, I trained as a teacher and taught lipreading and communication.  The skills I learnt have been invaluable in my role today.

Now, I fill my days spending time with our wonderful Residents, helping them to live their lives to the fullest. I try to make a difference in someone’s life each day.

Pebble Art Hunt

Pebble Art Hunt

We have been on some lovely walks around the local village and have spotted painted pebble art, which adds a bit of fun to our walks. When we find a painted pebble we take a photo of it, post it on Facebook and then re-hide it for someone else to find.

Food & Friends

Food & Friends

The mini pizzas were a great starter; the smaller designs meant more people could choose their individual toppings. We will be making these again in our weekly cookery class. The Viennese tarts  went down a storm when residents made them. The chef better watch out or we will be putting him out of a job.

Meresands Wood

Meresands Wood

We are planning out autumn crafts, so we went picking pinecones in Meresands Woods. As you can see, it was a beautiful day. The sun shone brightly and we brought back loads of pinecones, so Rob can make his famous pinecone decorations. Watch this space!

Holmsewood Koi

Holmsewood Koi

We went on a trip to see Holmsewood Koi; it was a beautiful morning, the fish were on top form and we got to see them feeding. There were an array of beautiful colours and they even came when we whistled.
